2、 Hardy who babysits the McBride children David and Suzie。One rainy,stormy evening they walk home from school.When they arrive home,water floods the backyard,cuts the power and floods roads,which stops Mr。and Mrs McBride from coming home.Soon the flooding begins to invade the McBrides home and Elizab
3、eth,David,Suzie and their dog Daisy try very hard to escape and survive the flood。My favorite character is David because I find him very funny and brave,and although he can be stubborn and rude at times,he is still a nice and friendly person。As much as I want to be like David I could never be like h
4、im。At least,I dont think I could ever do something as brave as he does。I think Eric Walters does a great job in describing the characters and telling the story.I really feel like this all just happened in front of my eyes.Ever since I started reading SafeasHouses I never wanted to put the book down,
5、and considering I was not a big fan of reading that did not happen very often.SafeasHouses changed my opinion in regard to reading and now I enjoy reading very much.Eric Walters writing career all started in 1993 when Eric was teaching a grade 5 class。His students were not good readers and did not l
6、ike reading,so Eric created a book called StandYourGround for his students and used some of the students names to create the story.Ever since Eric published that book he has become a big time writer and has published many amazing different books like CampX,TigerTrap,Camp 30,WeAllFallDown and Flyboy。

12、tia (癡呆),Katrina from Hong Kong,China,organized a team to build a Dementia Care Companion app.“We realized that dementia is a serious problem worldwide,” Katrina said.The team created a type of mahjong,a Chinese game,using photos and voices of loved ones to help patients remember their family.The gi
13、rls won first prize in the Junior Division,which included 10,000 in prize money.QamCare,an app created by a team from Kazakhstan,is a good helper when people are walking alone at night.One of the girls explained how she was followed while walking home。In Kazakhstan,nine people,mostly young girls,go

28、 fossil bones and museum skins the largest data set of thylacine DNA to date。The paper concluded that climate change starting about 4,000 years ago in particular drier seasons caused by the weather systems known as El Nino-Southern Oscillation was likely the main cause of the mainland extinction。The
29、 ancient DNA showed that the mainland extinction of thylacines was rapid,and not the result of loss of genetic diversity.There was also evidence of a population crash in thylacines in Tasmania at the same period of time,reducing their numbers and genetic diversity。Associate Professor Jeremy Austin,d
30、eputy director of the Universitys Australian Centre for Ancient DNA,said Tasmania would have been protected from mainland Australias warmer,drier climate due to its higher rainfall.He argued that climate change was “the only thing that could have caused,or at least started,an extinction on the mainl
