2、mmar section of this unit focuses on the verb-ing form and verb-ing phrases. Students will learn how a verb-ing form can be used as an adjective or adverb and how to use a Verb-ing phrase. Students are expected to learn how to use the verb-ing form and verb-ing phrases in different situations.Meanwh
3、ile , they are expected to apply the usages to fulfillingsome written tasks.Part 2 Teaching aims Knowledge goal:In this section, students will learn that a verb-ing form can be used as an adjective or adverb.ability goal: learn about verb- ing form as an adjective or adverb. improve the students abi
4、lity of using grammar knowledge.Moral goal: By using grammar correctly, the students can not only under-stand the importance of grammar, but also learn how to improve their English in language practice .Part 3 Key points: how to use a verb-ing form as an adjective or adverb and how to use a verb-ing
5、 phrase. Difficult points :using the verbing from in different situations and fulfilling the written task .Part 4 Analysis of the teaching methods 1). The new curriculum emphasizes the principle of “taking the students as the host and the teacher subordinate” and advocates the cooperative learning,
6、task-based learning, communicative learning. Therefore, Ill create as many chances as possible to make students participate in ways of “questions and answers”, “group discussion and pair work” and “search for and exchange information”. 2).Its commonly said that there are three kinds of learning moda
7、lities, namely visual, auditory and kinesthetic. A visual person learns through seeing, an auditory one through hearing and a kinesthetic one through moving, doing and touching. Therefore, Ill apply multi-functional teaching equipment to cater for the different characteristics of the students learni
8、ng habits. Part 5 Analysis of the learning approachAs is known to all ,interest is the best teacher. But with the heavy study burden and impact of the traditional spoon-feeding teaching,sometimes the students, especially our students from the remote country , may lose the interest in learning and ar
9、e not independentenough. 11、 A: Show verb-ing can be used as an adjective and the attribute.Practice A : Ask Ss to work in pairs to identify the use of the verb-ing form in the following sentences:1)The sleeping boy is her brother.2)His encouraging words made everyone presented at the meeting regain courage.3)Everyone is prepa
12、ring for the coming New Years party.Practice B: Have students read Point 1 in Part 1 on page 28. Make sure that students know the verb-ing form can be used as the attribute when it appears before a noun.Check the answers and then tell Ss that the verb-ing forms in the three sentences are used as the
13、 attribute.Presentation B: Tell the students that an attributive clause can have the same effect.1)The boy who is sleeping is her brother.= The sleeping boy is her brother .2)His words which were encouraging made everyone present at the meeting regain courage.= His encouraging words made everyone pr

15、tive .In this sentence , eyecatching is the predictive .Predictive is an adjective that comes after a linking verb.Ask Ss to work in pairs to identify the use of the verb-ing form in the following sentences: 1) Her uncles job is designing new machines.2) The film they are talking about sounds so fri
16、ghtening.3) The animal performance in the zoo is especially amusing, which is the first choice for children.4) The news that the Chinese team won 32 gold medals in the Olympic Games was encouraging. Tell students that the verb-ing in these sentences is used as the predicative. Point out that the ver
17、b-ing form following linking verbs can be used as the predicative. This art student always finds his English teachers lecture boring .In this sentence, boring is the object complement. An object complement is an adjective or a noun that relates to and describes the object of a sentence.Presentation
18、C: Verb-ing can be used as an adjective and the object complement.1)I watched the athletes jumping from the diving board into the swimming pool.2)The boy looked out of his window and saw a man entering his neighbours house.3)I heard someone playing the violin in the next room.4).The police caught th
19、e man stealing a bike outside the supermarket.Ask the Ss to work in pairs ,observe the following sentences and identify the use of the verb-ing form in them. Common verbs that we can use verb-ing form as the object complement:DO YOU KNOW?感官類:see, observe, look at, watch, notice,hear, listen to,smell
20、, feel, taste使役動(dòng)詞:have, make , leave,keepEntering the room , I found she was already asleep.Presentation D: V-ing form used as the adverbial:Seeing the big snake on her neck , her boyfriend was almost frightened to death .In the sentences above , entering and seeing is the adverbial just like an adv
21、erb can be used as the adverbial .“conj.+ V-ing” form used as the AdverbialHow dangerous ! The woman shouldnt use her mobile phone while driving . = while she is driving.Tell the students , “ conj.+ verb-ing ” is used as the adverbial. In the sentence above , while driving is the adverbial expressin
22、g time.Another example :Please take care when crossing the street.= Please take care when you are crossing the street .1)The girl lay in bed reading her favourite novel. = The girl lay in bed while she was reading her favourite novel.2)The boy sat at the table eating his breakfast. = The boy sat at
23、the table while he was eating his breakfast.3)The man stood on the sofa watching TV. =The man stood on the sofa while he was watching TV.Have Ss read Part 2 on page 28. Tell them that a verb-ing can be used after verbs like stand, sit and lie to show that the two actions are happen-ing at the same t

Make the Ss observe the following sentences and identify the use of the verb-ing form in them.In the sentences above, reading, eating and watching are all used as the adverbial and can be turned into an adverbial clause. do his homework play basketball After he did his homework , the boy went t
