1)當(dāng)我們需要對三個或三個以上的人或事物進行比較,來表達最高、最遠、最快等意義的時候,我們可以用形容詞和副詞的最高級形式來表達。

構(gòu)成方法:

(1)一般在詞尾加-est.

(2)以字母e結(jié)尾的形容詞/副詞,直接加-st.

(3)以重讀閉音節(jié)結(jié)尾的形容詞/副詞,應(yīng)先雙寫該字母,再加-est.

(4)多音節(jié)詞和部分雙音節(jié)詞在詞前加most

注意:形容詞的最高級前一般要加定冠詞the,而副詞的最高級前則可加也可不加the。

(5)形容詞(adj.)或副詞(adv.)的不規(guī)則變化:

good/wellbetterbest

farfartherfarthest(距離)

farfurtherfurthest(抽象意義)
