WhenIfirstheardaboutSummitLearning,IadmittedIwasnotabithappyandexcitedatall.Ithoughtitwouldrequireinteractionswithothers.Butlater,IwasastonishedwhenIgottoexperienceitfirsthand.

Recently,wedidapoetryproject,andoneoftheactivitieswasapeer(同齡人)review.Iwouldneverhavetakenpartifitwasuptome,asIpreferredtoworkindependently.ButwhenIgotinvolved,Ifoundintheexperience,IhaddonesomethingthatIthoughtwasnearlyimpossible-itmademypoetrybetter.MypartnerinformedmeofmymistakesandtoldmewhereIcouldgivemoredetail.

Oneofourfinalproductsoftheprojectwastopresentourpoetrytotheclass.I'vealwayslovedpublicspeaking,butIthoughtwithSummitLearning,Iwouldhavefewerchancestospeak.Iwaswrong.Thepeeractivitieswedidwithapartnergavememorebeliefinmyabilityandinspiredmetodomoretomakemypresentationthebestitcouldpossiblybe.

InteractionslikethesearewhatSummitLearningisallabout.Thisstyleoflearningbringsapositiveandhard-workingculturethatallowsustopushourboundariesandkeepgoing.Itcreatesasenseofcommunitysinceweareallworkingtowardsasimilargoal.

Asanactiveboy,Ihavealwaysbeenaheadandadvanced,butinanormalclassroom,therearerestrictionsonwhatIcando.WithSummitLearning,IcangobeyondexpectationsinprojectsormoveaheadinlearningnewcontentwhenI'mready.Ihaveownershipofmyworkandpursuemygoals.
