刻下今天，抗拒遺忘

【1】我們知道自己是容易忘記的。有心人能堅(jiān)持寫(xiě)下日記，日日記錄，到時(shí)回頭還能翻回去，某一年某一天，字字句句都在紙上，能喚起記憶。也有人記憶超群，過(guò)了多少年，還能細(xì)數(shù)某時(shí)某地某事，讓人驚嘆。但大部分的我們呢？我曾記過(guò)一陣日記，從開(kāi)始的日日記，到后來(lái)的隔日記，再到后來(lái)的不知隔多少日記，終于有一天把日記本塵封在寫(xiě)字臺(tái)的某個(gè)抽屜角落里了。我也曾與好友仔細(xì)回想，在何時(shí)何地哪一個(gè)場(chǎng)合第一次遇見(jiàn)，卻相顧茫然。

【2】這樣的無(wú)從查考，這樣的相顧茫然，并不算得上如何特殊。

【3】生活的大部分形態(tài)，總是碎片化的。一時(shí)在東，一時(shí)在西，紛繁復(fù)雜，并不是那么容易記住的。我們記住了海潮翻騰，側(cè)耳又聽(tīng)見(jiàn)大江大河奔涌怒吼；記住了大江大河的浪高聲宏，耳邊又傳來(lái)遠(yuǎn)處的人聲鼎沸……熱點(diǎn)似乎一個(gè)接著一個(gè)，連時(shí)尚流行都以百倍的速度在此起彼伏，每個(gè)似乎都在沸點(diǎn)上翻滾?？尚碌挠洃浛偸且豁?yè)頁(yè)壓過(guò)舊的，遺忘總在這樣不知不覺(jué)的側(cè)耳、挪移間發(fā)生。

【4】而更多時(shí)候，生活的形態(tài)，又是屢屢重復(fù)的。連古人都說(shuō)，“年年歲歲花相似”，相似的花，相似的葉，總是最不容易區(qū)分的。我們記憶里，只留下似曾相識(shí)的影子。提過(guò)的話題要再提，理過(guò)的邏輯要再理，連聽(tīng)過(guò)的故事，也總在天南海北再聽(tīng)到相似的講述?！跋晒鹉昴暾塾稚?，如果枝頭還是避著風(fēng)頭的朝向，連掛著的果子上的疤痕都一般，誰(shuí)又能分清是哪一年、哪一月種下的樹(shù)呢？

【5】若說(shuō)世上事盡是重復(fù)，無(wú)疑太消極。而太陽(yáng)每天都是新的，又高估了普通人心里的飽滿度。我們?cè)诠馀c影里穿行，日久年深。有這樣一個(gè)日子，我們停下來(lái)，做一個(gè)特別的標(biāo)記，把它從漫長(zhǎng)的旅途里區(qū)別出來(lái)，想想過(guò)去，看看前程，也是對(duì)自己的一種關(guān)懷。在意義被懷疑、被消解的時(shí)候，有這樣的莊重的一刻，反觀靜照，在一片喧騰或瑣碎里執(zhí)著地找到那份屬于自己的歷史感，也是一種覺(jué)醒。

RecordToday,ResistForgetting【1】Forgetfulnessispronetoplagueus.Therearethosewho,withunwaveringdiligence,chronicletheirdailyaffairsindiaries,everywordandsentenceanevocativetriggerformemoriesofacertaindayinacertainyearastheyflipthroughthepagesindaystocome.Othersareblessedwithprodigiousmemories,abletorecounteventsfromyearsagowithastonishingclarity.Butwhataboutthevastmajorityofus?I,forone,attemptedtokeepadiary,onlytoseemyentriesdwindlefromdailytoeveryotherday,andthentosporadic,untilIfinallysealeditawayinasecludedcornerofmywritingdeskdrawer.Ialsoendeavoredtorecallwithafriendtheprecisemoment,location,andoccasionofourfirstencounter,butwewerebothlostinafog.【2】Suchastateofforgetfulnessandtheensuingfog-boundbefuddlementareparforthecourse.【3】Life,forthemostpart,takesonfragmentedforms.Wemayfindourselvesheretodayandtheretomorrow,amidstaflurryofcomplexitythatisn’talwayseasytocommittomemory.Justaswebegintorecallthetumultuousoceantides,theroaringriversrushtoourears.Oncethemightyrivers’thunderousroarseepsintoourmemory,thedistantdinofchatterresoundsinourears.Thecurrentofhottopicsseemstoflowincessantly,withevenfashionandtrendssurgingandrecedingatbreakneckspeed,eachoneclamoringforourattention.Nevertheless,newmemoriesunfailinglyturnthepageontheold,whileforgettingsneaksuponusunnoticedamidourshiftingattentionandmeanderingmovements.【4】Moreoftenthannot,lifefeelslikeacycleofrepetition,aseventheancientsrecognized,remarkingthat“flowersaresimilaryearinandyearout.”Itisthoseverysimilarflowersandleavesthatprovemostdifficulttodistinguish,leavinguswithfaintlyfamiliarshadowsinourmemory.Topicsoncediscussedresurface,pastlogicalreasoningrequiresreevaluation,andeventhetaleswe’veheardbeforecatchechoesoftheirlikenessrecountedfromthefarreachesoftheearth.AsanancientChinesepoemstates,“theimmortallaurel’sbranchesbreakandreneweachyear.”Ifthebranchesstillshyawayfromthewind,andtheirfruitbearsthesamescars,whothencandiscerntheyearormonththatsawtheplantingofthetree?【5】Toclaimthateverythingintheworldismererepetitionistoobleakanotion.Andyet,toassertthatthesunrisesaneweachdayistooverestimatetheaverageperson'ssenseoffulfillment.Wetraversethroughlightandshadowforyearsonend.Buttherecomesamomentwhenwepauseandcreateaspecialmarktosetapartadayfromthelongprocessionoftime,amomentforustoreflectonthepastandgazetowardthefutureasanactofself-care.Intimeswhenmeaningisdoubtedordiminished,suchamomentofsolemnityallowsustoturninwardandunearthourownsenseofhistoryamidstthetumultandtrivialitiesoflife,whichmightbedeemedaformofawakening.
