Ladiesandgentlemen,

Today,Istandbeforeyounotasapolitician,ascientist,oranenvironmentalactivist,butasaconcernedcitizenofourplanet.Icometoyouwithamessageofhopeandwarning,amessagethatisasrelevanttothesmallestvillageasitistothelargestcity.Thetimehascomeforustorethinkourrelationshipwiththenaturalworld.

Ourplanetisfacingagravethreattoday,athreatthatissilentlyerasingourmostpreciousresourcesanddisruptingthebalanceofourecosystem.Climatechange,causedprimarilybyhumanactivities,isleadingtoextremeweatherevents,meltingicecaps,andrisingsealevels.TheAmazonrainforestisshrinking,coralreefsarebleaching,andspeciesaregoingextinctatanunprecedentedrate.

Aswefacethisexistentialcrisis,it'seasytofeeloverwhelmedandpowerless.Butthetruthis,eachoneofushastheabilitytomakeadifference.Wemustrecognizethatthechoiceswemakeeveryday–fromthefoodweeattotheenergyweuse–haveanimpactontheenvironment.

Protectingourplanetdoesn'tjustmeandoingmorefornature;itmeansdoinglessharm.Itmeansrethinkingoureconomies,ourconsumptionhabits,andourwayoflife.ItmeansembracingasustainablefuturethatvaluestheinterconnectednessofalllifeonEarth.

Here'sthegoodnews:thesolutionstoourenvironmentalchallengesarealreadyavailable.Wecantransitiontorenewableenergy,reducesingle-useplastics,andplantnewtrees.Wecanbuildsustainablecities,supportlocalagriculture,andpreserveourbiodiversity.Andthesesolutionsdon'tjustbenefittheenvironment;theyalsoleadtoeconomicgrowth,jobcreation,andahigherqualityoflifeforall.

Butwemustactquicklyanddecisively.Thewindowofopportunityisnarrowingeveryday.Thedecisionswemaketodaywilldeterminethefutureofourplanetandallitsinhabitants.

Aswestandonthisweddingday,letusalsostandforthefutureofourplanet.Letuspledgetoprotectandpreserveourenvironmentnotjustforourselvesbutforthenextgeneration.Letusmakethisplanetagiftthatwecanproudlypassontothem.

Wecanstartbysimpleactsofloveandkindness:pickingupapieceoftrash,plantingatree,savingawildanimalfromharm.Butwemustalsodemandmorefromourgovernmentsandbusinesses.Wemustholdthemaccountablefortheiractionsandpushforstrongerenvironmentallawsandpolicies.

Letusrememberthatweareallstakeholdersinthisplanet.Ouractions,nomatterhowsmall,haveaprofoundimpactontheworldaroundus.It'stimeforustocometogetherasaglobalcommunityanddeclareloudlyandclearly:"Wewillnotletourplanetperish.Wewillnotletourfuturebedeterminedbyshort-sightednessandgreed."

Onthisweddingday,letusalsorenewourvowstotheEarth,oursharedhome.Letuspromisetoloveandrespectnatureasweloveandrespecteachother.Letusbuildalegacyofstewardshipandpreservethebeautyofourplanetforgenerationstocome.

Aswecelebratetheunionoftwoindividualsinlove,letusalsoremembertheunionofalllivingbeingswiththenaturalworld.Letuscherishandprotectthislovethatunitesusall,thelovethatconnectsustothevastnetworkoflifeonEarth.
