DuringWorldWarII,theU.S.andU.K.armylandedinNormandyonJune6,1944.Toinsurethevictory,PrivateJamesRyan〔MattDamon〕，andhistroops--101stAirborneDivision,areairdroppedbehindtheGermanfront-lines.Unfortunately,allhisthreebrotherswerekilledinactionatthesametime.Inordertopreventtheunfortunatemotherfromlosingallherfoursons,theU.S.commanddecidedtosendaspecialsquadtolookforJamesRyanandtakehimbacksafely.

JohnMiller〔TomHanks〕waschosenasthecaptionoftherescuesquad.Hehurriedtopickseverale*cellentsoldiersandastaffofficerwhocouldspeakGermanandFrenchasthesquadmembers.Whenothersoldierswereresting,Miller’seight-membersquadbegantolookforRyan,whowasintheunknownareacontrolledbyGermans.

Whenfacingallkindsofdangersanddeathofteammatesonebyone,thesquadmembersgraduallybegantodoubttherationalityofthistask.Isitworthyofsavingonesoldierattheriskoflosingeightsoldiers’lives?Thejourneyofsalvationtestedeverymember’svalueofhumannature.
