expectJuravenatortofollowsuit.

“Ithasatypicalscalydinosaurianskin,“Chiappesaid.

ThepaleontologistsbelieveJuravenatorsclosestknownrelative

mayhavebeenafullyfeathereddinosaurfromChina,

Sinosauropterix.

ThereareanumberofpossibleexplanationsforJuravenators

nakedness.Featherscouldhavebeenlostontheevolutionaryline

leadingtoJuravenatorafterarisinginanancestortobothitand

itsfeatheredrelatives.Orfeatherscouldhaveevolvedmorethan

onceindinosaurs,croppingupinsisterspeciesatdifferenttimes

andplaces.Itisalsopossiblethatthisparticularfossilof

inhishomework,hefeltjustmiserable!Still,hedidnotstudy.

Inthemiddleofthefirstsemesterofschool,theentireseventh

gradewastestedforbasicskills.Stevehurriedthroughhistests,

andcontinuedtodreamofotherthings,asthedayworeon.Hisheart

wasnotinschool,butinthewoods,whereheoftenescapedalone,

tryingtoshutoutthesights,soundsandsmellsofhisalcoholic

home.Noonecheckedonhimtoseeifhewassafe.Nooneknewhe

wasgone,becausenoonewassoberenoughtocare.Oddly,Stevenever

missedadayofschool.

Oneday,MissWhitesimpatientvoicebrokeintohisdaydreams.
