形狀e.g.Thesebricksarealldifferentshapes.

work.Tom病了,但他仍然去上班。stealv.偷;竊取steal作動詞,其過去式和過去分詞分別為stole和stolen。stealsth.from...意為“從偷某物”。e.g.Shestoletheshoesfromrightundertheassistant’snose.

她把鞋從售貨員的鼻子底下偷走。辨析:

steal與robsteal指暗中竊取別人的東西,其賓語是物,不是被盜者本人。rob意為“搶劫”,其賓語為人、公司、銀行等,而不是被搶的東西。Chang’erefusedtogiveittohimandtookitall.(教材P11)refusev.

“拒絕”,反義詞為accept,

意為“接受”。e.g.Herefusedmyinvitation.

他拒絕了我的邀請。refusetodosth.

拒絕做某事e.g.Werefusedtochangeourplan.

我們拒絕改變我們的計劃。Hequicklylaidoutherfavoritefruitsanddessertsinthegarden.(教材P11)layout擺開;布置1.layout為固定搭配,其中l(wèi)ay作動詞,意為“放置;安放”。e.g.Layoutthemaponthetableandlet’shavealook.

把地圖放在桌子上,我們一起來看一看。2.lay作動詞還可以表示“下(蛋);產(chǎn)(卵)”。e.g.Thehenlaidaneggandsanghappily.

這只母雞下了一個蛋,開心地唱著歌。(擬人)dessertn.(飯后)甜點;甜食dessert既可作可數(shù)名詞,也可作不可數(shù)名詞。e.g.I’dliketohaveanicecreamfordessert.

我想吃一支冰淇淋作甜點。Fordessertthere’sapplepieorfruit.

傳統(tǒng);慣例tradition作“傳統(tǒng)”講是不可數(shù)名詞;作“慣例;傳統(tǒng)(風(fēng)俗)”講是可數(shù)名詞。tradition的詞形變化:

他昨晚熬夜到很晚,結(jié)果是他上學(xué)遲到了。asaresultof的意思是“因為,
