In January and February of 2008 unexpected changes in weather in central and southern China led to heavy snowstorms that cut off power lines and blocked roads and ra
12、ilway tracks. Millions of people could not go back to their homes for the Spring Festival holiday. The human losses were not very high, but many farmers crops were destroyed.
