2、afari and a stay on Zanzibar.Ive started looking for a safari, but it seems rather difficult. Ive already sent e-mails to different operators in order to get some information (and prices) and have received many replies. Some offer safaris at a reasonable price, others are rather expensive. Im especi

3、ally trying to find a reliable and good company. However, when looking up the different operators on the internet, I always find positive, but also many negative comments So I find it really difficult to decide which operator to choseDoes anyone have any suggestions on a reliable and budget-friendly

We would like to start our safari in Moshi or Arusha and do a safari of 6 or 7 days, and would like to visit Lake Manyara National Park, Serengeti National Park, the Ngorongoro Crater, and if there is any time left also the Tarangire National Park. Since we do not have a big budget, we wi

5、ll chose a budget camping safari. But if this is possible within a certain budget, I would prefer to do a combination of for instance 3 or 4 nights camping and 2 nights in a lodge or a tented campDoes anyone have any suggestions on good operators which offer such safaris? If so, please let me know!A

11、eally a trip of a life time. Here's a brief outline of the three week trip, which was two weeks of safari and one week in Zanzibar. 1. Hiked to the first base camp of Mt. Kiliminjaro (we decided to forgo going to the summit because we would miss out other stuff, and we were not disappointed by t

12、his decision in the least).2. Arusha National Park3. Tarangire4. Lake Manyara5. Lake Eyasi - here we followed the Hadzabe on their morning hunt.6. Ngorongoro Crater7. Empakai Crater - we camped on the rim and in the morning we hiked down to the crater base, returned to the rim, and then hiked to our

13、 next camp site in a forest of Acacia treas. Amazing.8. Hiked to Lake Natron9. Serengetti10. ZanzibarEvery day was better than the previous. I think one thing people might be surprised about, certainly I was, is the cost. It's expensive to travel in Tanzania and once we got their we completely u

14、nderstood why - there are lots of logistics, lots of driving and there aren't a lot of budget friendly and nice accommodations. There is high end and low end and not a lot in between. We spent more on accommodations than we would in the US and not always equivalent quality but always comfortable

15、. Also, depending on the company use and time, some operators might suggest using internal flights to get from one national park to another. These internal flights are expensive. For example flying from Ndutu (Serengetti) to Zanzibar is $500 USD/person. Also, the fees for the national park are high.

16、 For example, one day in Mt. Kiliminjaro is $120 USD/person for the day (not 24 hours; Mt Kili is the most expensive park). So the more parks you see the more it adds up but it's well worth it because the money assuming absolutely no corruption goes to pay for the conservation of an absolutely s

17、tunning array of animal and plant life. I do believe you get what you pay for.We used Restoration Safaris, a locally owned Tanzanian (Arusha based) small business. It is operated by Bariki Laiser. He's phenomenal and made our experience what it was, amazing. One thing we learned is that most saf

18、ari operators are foreign owned like Thompson is American, Maasai Wanderings is French etc. And while they use locals to support their business, clearly not all the money stays in Tanzania. Not everyone cares about this but it's something we cared about which led us to use Bariki. Bariki is pass

26、rge company and from the posts it is definitely a case of quantity not even coming close to matching Quality. The warning from the poster was that they did not obey any of the park rules, drove off track, the driver did not know much about the animals etc.I am not going to recommend any particular c

They delivery a great service (good vehicles, experienced guide etc.), prices depends on where you sleep (expensive lodge, hotel, camp site.)To my mind the best thing you can do is decide your itinerary and ask prices/details to differ

35、e of any company however good their reviews are because ever traveler is looking for a different experience, and a good service to one does not neccessarily mean its good for the next person. Make a decision that you're comfortable with and this will get you in tune to expecting a good service a

37、visiting the Serengeti as well. You could do the following:Day 1 - drive to Tarangire, do an afternoon safari drive. CampDay 2 - do a morning safari drive in Tarangire (your entrance fee covers 24 hours), drive to Lake Manyara and do a short safari drive. Camp nearby.Day 3 - drive to the Serengeti,

38、visiting Oldapai Gorge visitor center on the way. Afternoon safari drive in the SerengetiDay 4 - Serengeti safari drive. CampDay 5 - Serengeti safari drive in the morning. Drive to Ngorongoro Crater rim. Camp.Day 6 - Ngorongoro Crater. Return to Moshi or Arusha.Since you have the time, I would highl

39、y recommend adding the Serengeti - the landscape is very different than the other parks (one of the nice things about the northern parks is that each park has its own distinct landscape). I did the trip described above in 2007. I used a budget operator based in Moshi. We stayed in Sopa Lodges and Wi

40、ldlife Lodges and the prices were quite reasonable because we put 3 people in one room. Back then we paid about $1225 per person.
