Appropriate State Office Staff have access to the information included in applications as part of their duties. Some information ma

4、y be provided to site managers as part of the process for filling positions.Definitions:School Services Officer (SSO): provides administration and classroom support within DECS schools.Early Childhood Worker (ECW): provides classroom support within DECS preschool centres.Government Services Officers

5、 (GSE): provides grounds, facilities and maintenance support within DECS schools and preschools.APPLICATION GUIDELINESNew ApplicationsNew applications for employment will be considered for people who have proof of the targeted major functions, are able to identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Isla

6、nder or who are prepared to relocate to identified districts. Targeted major functions include:Finance Grounds Laboratory Occasional Care qualified Rural Care & Lunch Care (section C in the new Application for Employment Form) Computing Support Special educationThe Department of Education and Childr

7、ens Services is committed to improving and increasing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employment outcomes and recognises those who self identify as a targeted group.Targeted locations include all country districts.New applications can only be forwarded through a school principal or preschool d

8、irector to their Human Resource Consultant for entry into the Non-Teaching Pool as a Targeted Application.If you are within one of the targeted areas you will need to submit an APPLICATION OF INTEREST IN NON TEACHING EMPLOYMENT WITH DECS form (VL205T) to be considered for a School Services Officer (

9、SSO), Early Childhood Worker (ECW) or Government Services Officer (GSE) position within DECS sites. Your application will be valid for three years from the date of entry into the DECS Non Teacher Pool.HOW TO COMPLETE YOUR APPLICATIONSECTION AIndicating the work in which you are interestedEnsure you

10、tick the box next to either School Services Officer (SSO), Early Childhood Worker (ECW) or Government services Officer (GSE) to indicate this is the work you are interested in being considered for. You can tick more then one type of work. e.g. If you are interested in work as an SSO and ECW tick bot

11、h boxes. Please refer to the appropriate Application and Guidelines for any other positions in which you are interested.SECTION B Aboriginal, and/or Torres Strait Islander identificationDefinition:Indigenous status indicates whether or not a person identifies as being of Aboriginal or Torres Strait

12、Islander origin. The term origin, when used in the context of the operational definition, is considered to relate to peoples Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent and for some, but not all, their cultural identity.Statement in accordance with the Information Privacy PrinciplesD

13、ECS will use this information to support workforce planning, respond to Ministerial requests for information, and to meet statutory reporting requirements.The information you provide will be incorporated into the DECS human resource management system and will be accessed by relevant DECS personnel f

14、or the purposes of workforce analysis and planning, human resource service provision and reporting to meet Australian and state government requirements. Reporting will be in the form of statistics, and will not provide specific information about individuals.All information will be handled in accorda

15、nce with the Information Privacy Principles (Department of Premier and Cabinet Circular no. 12).SECTION C Personal DetailsThe information you give in this section will be used to contact you. It is your responsibility to ensure it is always accurate on your Application.Identity Number: If you have p

16、reviously been employed by the Department of Education and Childrens Services, write your identity number in the appropriate box (if you have a six digit identity number preface it with an 0).If you do not have an identity number or cannot remember it, please leave this section blank.SECTION DRefere

17、esReferees need to be able to speak of you skills as an employee. They will be contacted by HR Consultants and or Site Managers when confirming your skills and abilities.MINIMAL REQUIREMENT CHECKLIST OF DOCUMENTS YOU HAVE ATTACHED OR HAVE BEEN SIGHTED BY A PRINCIPAL OR PRESCHOOL DIRECTORResidency St

18、atus/Birth Certificate Birth certificates are able to be sighted by a school principal or preschool director and signed off by them on your APPLICATION OF INTEREST IN NON TEACHING EMPLOYMENT WITH DECS form (VL205T) however; Work Visas or residency certificates must be submitted with your application

19、 for employment to Recruitment. DECS can only employ permanent residents of Australia or residents who hold a current permit to work in Australia. As part of the application, you are required to provide a copy of your birth certificate or current passport as proof of your residency status. If you ar

20、e not a permanent resident or do not hold a current permit to work in Australia, you cannot be considered for employment. Employment Declaration form VL233 Employment Declarations must be submitted with your application for employment to Recruitment. Additional information and details can be attache

21、d to your Employment Declaration on its return. Information contained in the Employment Declaration remains strictly confidential. When appropriate, Recruitment may request that you obtain further information from a treating specialist or medical practitioner in relation to statements made on the fo

22、rm. Any additional information required will be at the applicants cost. Not answering all questions honestly in the Employment Declaration will put at risk your chances for employment with DECS.Criminal History Record Check/ Application for Criminal History Screening CheckDECS employees are required

23、 to have a Criminal History Record Check to be carried out or approved by The DECS Criminal History Screening Unit. If you have already had this done you need to attach a copy of your Clearance Certificate. If you do not already have a clearance you need to give consent for this check to occur. Info

25、 line with updated DECS child protection policies Mandatory Notification training is a minimum requirement of all DECS employees. 26、sa.asn.au.Updated Mandatory Notification can be verified by a DECS school principal or preschool director on the Minimal Requirements check list on the application form.Verification Forms (VL712A)For each major function/skill code you will need to include a separate Verification Form (VL712A). If yo

27、u have not provided sufficient information (as described in the major function and skill code criteria) to support your nominated major function/skill codes on a VL712A, they will be deleted from your form. Additional subjects and skills can be verified by a DECS school principal or preschool direct

28、or on the Minimal Requirements check list on the application form.ResumeA resume needs to be attached to your APPLICATION OF INTEREST IN NON TEACHING EMPLOYMENT WITH DECS form (VL205T). The resume must include:Employment History (Including Community Experience)Please list your employment history for

29、 the past five years commencing with your current employment details. If you have been employed by the DECS include name(s) of the work site/s where you have worked. The information you provide may be checked to determine your commencing salary if you are offered employment.Relevant Secondary Or Pos

30、t Secondary EducationAny Other Relevant InformationOther information relevant to your possible employment should also be included. This could include information such as child-care arrangements; circumstances which might affect the hours you can work; references. If you wish to attach additional mat

31、erial to your application, fasten it securely to the VL205T form. Write your name and identity number (if known) on each page of any attachments. This information may be used to supplement your skills profile.SECTION E Major Functions and Skills (All Codes and criteria listed at the end of these Gui

32、delines)Major function and skill codes are used by the site manager to describe the requirements of a vacancy. Consequently it is important to understand the meaning of:Major functionsSkillsOther expertise.A major function is a key focus area in a work site. It is the consolidation of a range of rel

33、ated skills/knowledge/experience/proficiency and expertise. A person appointed to a vacancy in a work site with a function as a description could expect this to be a significant part of the tasks they would undertake in their role.You must list at least one major function in your application in orde

34、r to be considered for employment.A skill indicates a specific task/proficiency required by a site. The skills are directly relevant to one or more major functions. Although the lists of skills are most readily applicable to people already working in a site, many applicants will have gained skills f

35、rom other work and community experience that meet the requirements.Other expertise refers to additional relevant skills that a person has gained which compliment a major function.Many vacancies require more than one major function/skill requirement and could involve a range of duties and responsibil

36、ities.Claim Major Functions and SkillsIn order to have a major function and/or skill code, you need to provide information of experience/abilities, which satisfies the criteria relevant to that code. This information must be verified by a site manager relating to the Employment Type. Information tha

37、t is not verified is not considered to be part of your application.You may choose any major function(s) listed for School Services Officer (SSO), Government Services Employee (GSE) and Early Childhood Worker (ECW).The Verification Form (VL712A) is used to support each of the major function or skill

38、codes you have listed on your application form. The Verification Form can be photocopied if you are applying for more that one major function and/or skill code.A separate Verification Form (VL712A) is required for each major function and skill code listed in your application.On the Verification Form

39、, provide explicit examples from your experience as it relates to some or all of the tasks listed relevant to the function or skill. You may also need to provide copies of qualifications to support your application eg. Certificates, typing speed, attendance at computer courses, library skills, child

40、care relevant qualifications.Once you have completed this, have your site manager comment, sign and date the Verification Form.You should keep a photocopy of each completed verification form.Once you have lodged your application, Recruitment staff assesses the information provided by you against the

41、 relevant criteria. If the information satisfies the requirements of the major function/skill code, it is verified as part of your application.You will be informed about which major function/skill codes have been verified through your Acknowledgement Letter.Other ExpertiseIn this section indicate wi

42、th a tick or an appropriate response in the box next to the expertise if you have knowledge/skills which could be of use in a school/preschool situation. Please note the particular requirements for the first 3 areas of expertise.Senior First Aid CertificateIf you hold a current Senior First Aid cert

43、ificate and are prepared to undertake first aid duties, please supply a photocopy of your current certificate.Language(s)If you have entered the SSO code BI (Bilingual) or the ECW code BL (Bilingual), write the name of the language(s) in which you are proficient in the space provided.Word Processing

44、 Package(s)If you have entered the WP (Word Processing) write the name of the word processing packages in which you are competent. 45、oyment as a school services officer (SSO) or an early childhood worker (ECW).Applicants for GSE do not need to complete this section.In this section indicate with either a Y (Yes) or N (No) in the boxes provided if you are prepared to work in the following situations:SSO onlyCommunity Library may in

46、volve work outside normal school hours, on weekends and during school vacation periodsAdult Re-Entry may involve work outside normal school hoursChild Parent Centre may involve work with preschool age children.ECW onlyRural Care may involve within a preschool being part of a rural care long day prog

47、ram to meet the needs of individual children, their families and the rural community. Lunch Care may involve within a preschool providing supervision for duty of care.SECTION GHours Sought Per WeekYou can specify the range of hours for which you wish to be considered by indicating a minimum and maxi

48、mum number of hours per week.If you only wish to be considered for a set number of hours (eg 20 per week), the same number must be written in both the minimum and maximum boxesThe span of hours per week may be in the range of 2 - 37.5 hours for School Services Officer (SSO) and 3 - 38 hours for Gove

49、rnment Services Employee (GSE) and 2 37.5 hours for Early Childhood Worker (ECW) positions.Existing government employees who wish to retain existing hours and be considered for additional hours must be able to accommodate the required duty hours of both positions within the maximum hours indicated a

50、bove. If applicable please include in the “Any Other Relevant Information” section of the application the hours and days you are currently working.SECTION HPreferred Locations Please complete in preference order the districts in which you are prepared to accept employment.You are not required to lis

51、t all locations, only those in which you wish to be considered for employment.You may not, for valid reasons, be prepared to work in all schools/centres listed in a location. If this is the case, please indicate the details on the application form in the section, “Any Other Relevant Information”.For
