How do you catch a cloud and pin it down?Those who guessed it right, good on you. Those who still are clueless need to go grab a DVD or Blu Ray copy of THE SOUND OF MUSIC! Set du

5、ring the latter1930s in Salzburg Austria is this heartwarming musical of the Von Trapp family and the hardships they had to live through durin g uprising of Hitler empire. Inspired by true events of the highly decorated WW1 Austro- Hungarian Naval officer George Von Trapp , Christopher Plummer and J

6、ulie Andrews along with the Von Trapp children will touch your hearts and take you back in time to when their newly united family is almost about to be separated by the evil clutches of war.Maria who is a postulant at the Nonberg abbey is absolutely as graceful as a swan and yet as lively as a chipm

7、unk and has the voice of a nightingale. Her tendency of getting into constant mischief has the nuns doubting her future at the abbey. It is at this point that Maria is sent of as a governess to the Von Trapp estate. It is here that she changes the norms and once again brings within the Von Trapp man

8、sion walls the sounds of music.Captain Von Trapp a decorated WW1 hero is a patriot of Austria and isn t timid about his beliefsthe nation s flag high at a time the Nazi revolution is sweeping across Europe.Wholesomely packed with marvel tunes as Edelweiss, My favorite things and Climb every mountain

9、 this musical extravagance is one of my favorite musicals of all time and absolutely has the potential to be yours as well. Whilst most of Julie Andrews singing was done by her, facts state that it isn o with her co-star Christophe r t s Plummer. Facts state that a lion s share of his vocals is done

Surprisingly this does not for amoment draw out any negativity towards the musical.Director the Late Robert Wise, a legend before my time, a legend whose work I have loved as a child. I recall the year as 1992 when I first watched this movie and my heartfelt respect goes out to

11、the brilliant work of the late Mr. Wise. Sir your production will live on for many generations to come and I sincerely hope this piece of mine will help her journey at least in a minuscule manner.THE SOUND OF MUSIC has been selected by the United States Library of Congress for preservation in the na

14、e watched as intended - on a tablet. No, crank this bad boy up on the biggest screen with the deepest surround sound you have. It s the only way to get caught up in the spectacleitoall, for Wandering Earth is a Chinese movie designed right out of the Hollywood summer blockbuster playbook and the sma

15、ller the screen the more those warts and the clich e s we ve seen since the late 90s disaster movie renaissance will bubble to thacsu rfThe film s biggest appeal is it s audacious, deliciously absiandpreennseney spent to bring it tolife. Our solar system s sun is dying, so a United Earth Government

16、commissions the buildnot sp ace ships to send mankind into the stars, no, no giant propulsion cannons on one side of the Earth. With half of mankind safely underground (from a lottery system we don t see), the thrusters navigate the planet out of orbinew star. Merely 6 months after the journey an at

17、tempt to slingshot around Jupiter goes horribly wrong and the Earth finds itself on a collision course with Jupiter.Once the movie s exposition and world introduction starts settling down and we get into the business of saving the Earth things start to get a bit more complicated.Wandering Earth exec

18、ution isn t nearly as fun aspremise, constantly leaning back on a dictionaryworth of other sci fi films for conflicts andresolutions. Sunshine, Interstellar, 2001, Snowpiercer, Gravity, When World Collide, The Day After Tomorrow, 2012 you name the sci fi or disaster movie and Wandering Earth grabs a

19、 little from it. But the movie that it most recalls, is Michael Bay 998 oil drillers vs. asteroids disaster Armageddon and to the extent that Wandering Earth is a better, more fun, better looking and more genuinely felt version of Armageddon I am all about that. People always complain about useless

20、remakes of classics, here is something close to a bad movie being remade into something that works. And hey, this movie has a space station in it and what sci fi movie with a space ship doesn t also have an AI on board to talk back to the crew? MOSS steps in for HAL.So why in God s name does this pa

21、tchwork of other movies work? It s fun. Directogiddyntenthusiasm to the project. Where Armageddon is dreary and ugly, Wandering Earth is bright and glossy with the colorful visual style of a comic book. One visual bit I particularly liked shows our heroes dragging a fuel core up an elevator shaft, i

22、s shot far away like a side-scrolling video game. Where Armageddon is sappy, wrung out with an Aerosmith ballad and studio- mandated emotion, Wandering Earth is cheesy in a sci-fi B movie sort of way. Where Armageddon is oppressive, bleak, cynical and claustrophobic, Wandering Earth is big, airy, cartoonish, tense and hopeful. It s a totally bizarre movie,
