Civilrightsmovement

(AfricanAmericancitizensinUS):Thecivilrightsmovementhasbeenalong,primarilynon-violentstruggletobringfullcivilrightsandequalityunderthelawtoprimarilyAfricanAmericancitizensinUS.Civilrightscanrefertothebasicrightsgivenorguaranteedbythegovernmentofanation.Wehavetherighttoprivacy,therighttovote,therighttopersonalfreedom,righttolifeandsoon.Thistermisoftenusedtorefertothestrugglebetween1955and1968toenddiscriminationagainstAfricanAmericanandtoendracialdiscriminationintheUSsouth.Thismovementtriestofightagainstwhitesupremacyandboostblackprideandcallforwomen’sliberation.Thecivilrightsmovementstillhasanimpactonthecourseofhistory,servingasanagentandasamodeloftherequestforhumanrights.CivilrightsmovementThepoliticalmovementduringthe1950'sand1960's,devotedtosecuringequalopportunityandtreatmentformembersofminoritygroups.Counter-cultureInthewakeofFreeSpeechMovementandtheNewLeft,thereappearedaphenomenonthathistorianscalledthecounter-culture.ThecounterculturerejectedcapitalismandotherAmericanprinciples.Theyhadmoralsdifferentfromthosetaughtbytheirparents.Somegroupsofyouthtriedtoconstructdifferentwaysoflife.Amongthemostwerethehippies.Theysoughtnewexperiencethroughdroppingout,anddrugtaking.Butitwasmusic,rockmusicinparticular,thatbecamethechiefvehicleforthecounterculturalassaultonthetraditionalAmericansociety.Thecountercultureexertedagreatinfluenceuponpeople’sattitudestowardssocialmorals,marriage,careerandsuccess.
