Keywords:vegetationcover;TaihangMountains;temporalandspatialevolution;drivingforces 1.IntroductionVegetationcoverreferstotheextenttowhichthelandsurfaceiscoveredbyplants,anditisanimportantindicatortoevaluatethehealthofecosystemsandthequalityoftheenvironment.AsoneoftheimportantecologicalenvironmentalprotectionareasinChina,thestudyofthetemporalandspatialevolutionofvegetationcoveranditsdrivingforcesintheTaihangMountainsisofgreatsignificanceforlocalecologicalenvironmentalprotectionandsustainabledevelopment. 2.ResearchMethodsInthisstudy,remotesensingimageinterpretationandGISspatialanalysismethodswereadoptedtointerpretandclassifymulti-periodremotesensingimagesoftheTaihangMountains.Thevegetationcoverstatusofdifferentyearswasobtained.Atthesametime,thehistoricalclimatedataandlandusedatawerecombinedtoanalyzethetemporalandspatialevolutioncharacteristicsofvegetationcoverinthestudyareaandexplorethedrivingforces. 3.ResultsandDiscussions3.1TemporalandspatialevolutioncharacteristicsofvegetationcoverTheresultsshowedthattheoverallvegetationcoverintheTaihangMountainsisincreasing.Especiallyinrecentyears,withthepromotionofecologicalenvironmentalprotectionpolicies,thevegetationcoverinthisregionhassignificantlyimproved.However,therearedifferencesinvegetationcoverevolutionindifferentregions.Insomemountainousareas,excessiveloggingandlandusechangeduetohumanactivitieshaveledtoasignificantdecreaseinvegetationcover.Whileinsomeslopeandplainareas,vegetationcoverhasshownanincreasingtrend. 3.2AnalysisofdrivingforcesforvegetationcoverByanalyzingtherelationshipbetweenvegetationcoverintheTaihangMountainsandclimatechangeandhumanactivities,itwasfoundthatclimatechangeandlandusechangearethemaindrivingforcesforthetemporalandspatialevolutionofvegetationcoverintheTaihangMountains.Climatefactorsmainlyaffectvegetationcoverthroughchangesinprecipitationandtemperature.Increasedprecipitationandrisingtemperaturescontributetovegetationgrowthandexpansion.Humanactivitiesmainlyincludeexcessiveloggingandgrasslandconversiontocropland,whichdirectlyleadtoadecreaseinvegetationcover.Inaddition,landusechangeisalsoanimportantdrivingforceforvegetationcoverevolution. 4.ConclusionandSuggestionsThetemporalandspatialevolutionofvegetationcoverintheTaihangMountainsiscloselyrelatedtoclimatechangeandhumanactivities.TobetterprotecttheecologicalenvironmentoftheTaihangMountains,itissuggestedtostrengthentheimplementationofecologicalenvironmentalprotectionpolicies,promotetherestorationandprotectionofvegetation,andstrengthenthemonitoringandpredictionofvegetationcoverevolutiontoprovidescientificbasisforecologicalenvironmentalmanagementanddecision-making.
