ItisapopularfolkfestivalintheWestsincethe19thcentury,andhasnotbeenrecognizedasalegalfestivalbyanycountry.ButitiswellknowninEurope,Australia,BrazilandtheUnitedStates.Onthisday,peoplecheatandteaseeachotherinvariousways,andoftenexposeandannouncethatthetargetofthejokeis“fool”attheendofthejoke.愚人節(jié)也稱為萬愚節(jié)。一種說法認(rèn)為這一習(xí)俗源自印度的“詮俚節(jié)”。該節(jié)規(guī)定,每年三月三十一日的這一天,不分男女老幼,可以互開玩笑、互相愚弄欺騙以換得娛樂。另一種較普遍的說法是起源于法國。1564年,法國首先采用新改革的紀(jì)年法——格里歷(即目前通用的陽歷),以一月一日為一年的開端,改變了過去以四月一日作為新年開端的歷法。新歷法推行過程中,一些因循守舊的人反對這種改革仍沿襲舊歷,拒絕更新。他們依舊在四月一日這天互贈禮物,組織慶祝新年的活動。主張改革的人對這些守舊者的做法大加嘲弄。聰明滑稽的人在四月一日這天給頑固派贈送假禮物,邀請他們參加假慶祝會,并把這些受愚弄的人稱為“四月傻瓜”或“上鉤之魚”。所以每年四月一日,是西方的民間傳統(tǒng)節(jié)日——愚人節(jié)。參加魚宴的帖,通常是用紙板做成的彩色小魚。餐桌用綠、白兩色裝飾起來.中間放上魚缸和小巧玲瓏的釣魚竿,每個釣竿上系一條綠色飄帶,掛著送給客人的禮物——或是魚形工藝品,或是一個裝滿糖果的魚籃子。4月1日的魚宴節(jié)日習(xí)俗Noneisafoolalways,everyonesometimes.沒有終身的傻瓜,也沒有終身不當(dāng)傻瓜的人。Ifwisemenplaythefool,theydoitwithavengeance.聰明人做起糊涂事來,那才糊涂透頂。
