I.Firstofall,letmestartwithpart1Teachingmaterial

1.Thislessonisareadingpassage,whichplaysaveryimportantroleinthisunit,weshouldlayparticularemphasisonthestudents’readingability.Itfocusesonthestudents’abilitiestogatherinformation;dealwithinformation;solveproblemsandtheabilitiestothinkandexpressinEnglish.Bystudyingthispart,thestudentscanimprovetheirreadingability;learnmoreaboutKingCholera.Atthesametime,weshouldgetthestudentstounderstandsomedifficultsentencestocomprehendthepassagebetter.Thestudentswilldosomelistening,speaking,readingandwriting,too.

2.NowI’lltalkaboutmyteachingaimsofthisperiod.

Accordingtothenewcurriculumstandard,theteachingaimsaredividedinto3parts:

①Knowledgeaims:aretoenablethestudentstomastersomeusefulwordsandexpressionsandgetabetterunderstandingofthetext.

②Abilityaims:aretodevelopthestudentsreadingabilityandletthemlearndifferentreadingskills.

③Emotionalaims:aretodevelopstudents’interestinstudyandsetupself-confidenceinreading.

3.Intheteachingprocess,teachershouldhelpstudentsmastertheimportantpointsandbreakthroughthedifficultpointsasfollows:

①Teachingimportantpoint:istoimprovethestudents’readingability.

②Teachingdifficultpoints:aretohelpSsunderstandthetextbetterandusethelearnedphrasestoretellthetext.

II.Nowlet’sfocusonthesecondpart:analysisofstudents

TheSsinmyclasshaveknownsomethingaboutthetopic,becausetheyhavetalkedaboutitinthepreviousperiod.Butsomelongsentencesaredifficultforthemtounderstand.Theydon’toftenuseEnglishtoexpressthemselvesandcommunicatewithothers.Somestudentsarenotactiveinclassbecausesomeareafraidofmakingmistakeswhilespeaking.Soduringthelesson,I’llarrangeavarietyofactivitiestoletallthestudentsjoininclasstoattracttheirattentionandmakethemconfident.

III.Teachingandstudymethods

Teachingmethodsincludes:

Task-basedapproach,communicativelanguageteachingandinteractiveapproach.

Studymethods:

AndIwilladoptcooperativelearning;communicativelearning;andparticipativelearningmethods.

I’llmakefulluseofmodernequipmentsuchasthemulti-mediatomakemylessonmorelivelyandinteresting.Withtheaidofthecomputer,Ithinkthe

awarenessofusingEnglish.

Task2:Listening

Playthetapeofthepassageforthestudentstolistenandfollow.Thenaskthemtoreadthetextaloud.Tellthemtopayattentiontothepronunciationandintonation.Atthesametime,theycanenjoythebeautyoftheEnglishlanguage.Anditcanpreparethestudentsfortheretellingthetextinthenexttask.

Task3:Summaryandretelling

Iwillletthemfillintheblanktosummarizethegeneralideaofthetext.Andthenaskthestudentstoretellthestoryintheirownwords.Thisisdesignedtoapplywhattheyhavelearntintopractice,thustransformsthelanguageknowledgeintoabilitybyusingEnglish.

Step4.Homework

Attheendofthelesson,I’lltellthestudentstoremembertheusefulphrasesandsentencesintheirnotebookandpracticetoreadthepassagefrequently.
