功能翻譯理論視角下浙江省高校網(wǎng)頁(yè)簡(jiǎn)介的英譯研究開(kāi)題報(bào)告ResearchProposalfortheEnglishTranslationofWebpageIntroductionsofZhejiangProvincialUniversitiesfromthePerspectiveofTranslationTheoryofFunctionality1.ResearchBackgroundWiththedevelopmentofglobalizationandinternationalization,Englishhasbecomethemostcommonlanguageusedinacademicandbusinesscommunication.Asaresult,effectiveEnglishtranslationsofwebpagesforuniversitiesinnon-English-speakingcountrieshavebecomeincreasinglyimportantforpromotinginternationalcommunicationandunderstanding.Inthiscontext,thetranslationtheoryoffunctionalityhasattractedsignificantattention,asitemphasizestheimportanceofconsideringtheoverallfunctionandpurposeofthetextbeingtranslated.Zhejiangprovince,locatedontheeastcoastofChina,ishometonumerousuniversitiesthatofferhigh-qualityeducationwithafocusoninnovationandentrepreneurship.However,thewebsitesoftheseuniversitiesstillfacechallengesintermsofpresentingtheiruniquefeaturesandstrengthsinEnglish,especiallyforinternationalstudentsandscholars.Therefore,thisstudyaimstoprovideatranslationframeworkbasedonthetheoryoffunctionalitytoenhancetheaccuracy,fluencyandreader-friendlinessofEnglishtranslationsofwebpageintroductionsforuniversitiesinZhejiangprovince.2.ResearchObjectivesTheobjectivesofthisresearchareasfollows:-ToinvestigatetheexistingproblemsandchallengesofEnglishtranslationsofwebpageintroductionsforuniversitiesinZhejiangprovince;-Toexploretherelevantprinciplesandtechniquesofthetranslationtheoryoffunctionality,whichcanbeappliedtothetranslationofwebpageintroductionsinhighereducation;-ToprovideanEnglishtranslationframeworkbasedonthetheoryoffunctionalitythataddressesthespecificneedsandpurposesofthewebpageintroductionsforuniversitiesinZhejiangprovince;-Toevaluatetheeffectivenessandpracticalityoftheproposedframeworkthroughcasestudiesandfeedbackfromstakeholders.3.ResearchQuestionsTheresearchquestionsthatwillguidethisstudyareasfollows:-WhatarethecommonproblemsandchallengesintheEnglishtranslationsofwebpageintroductionsforuniversitiesinZhejiangprovince?-Howcanthetranslationtheoryoffunctionalitybeappliedtothetranslationofwebpageintroductionsinhighereducation?-WhataretheessentialelementsandstrategiesthatshouldbeincludedintheEnglishtranslationframeworkbasedonthetheoryoffunctionalityforwebpageintroductionsofuniversitiesinZhejiangprovince?-Howdothestakeholdersevaluatetheeffectivenessandpracticalityoftheproposedframework?4.ResearchMethodsThisresearchwilladoptacombinationofqualitativeandquantitativemethodstoinvestigatetheresearchquestionsandachievetheobjectives.Qualitativemethods,includingdocumentanalysisandsemi-structuredinterviews,willbeusedtocollectdataontheproblemsandchallengesofEnglishtranslationsofwebpageintroductionsforuniversitiesinZhejiangprovince,aswellasstakeholders'expectationsandneedsforthesetranslations.Quantitativemethods,includingsurveyandstatisticalanalysis,willbeemployedtoevaluatetheeffectivenessandpracticalityoftheproposedtranslationframeworkbasedonthetheoryoffunctionality.5.ExpectedOutcomesTheexpectedoutcomesofthisresearchareasfollows:-AbetterunderstandingoftheproblemsandchallengesofEnglishtranslationsofwebpageintroductionsforuniversitiesinZhejiangprovince;-Anin-depthanalysisofthetranslationtheoryoffunctionalityanditspracticalapplicationtothetranslationofwebpageintroductionsinhighereducation;-AproposedEnglishtranslationframeworkbasedonthetheoryoffunctionalitythataddressesthespecificneedsandpurposesofthewebpageintroductionsforuniversitiesinZhejiangprovince;-Anevaluationoftheeffectivenessandpracticalityoftheproposedframeworkthroughcasestudiesandfeedbackfromstakeholders.6.SignificanceoftheResearchThisresearchissignificantinseveralways.First,itcontributestothetheoreticaldevelopmentoftranslationstudiesbyapplyingthetheoryoffunctionalitytothetranslationofwebpageintroductionsinhighereducation.Second,itprovidespracticalguidanceforEnglishtranslatorsandwebsitedesignersinuniversitiesinZhejiangprovince,andpotentiallyinothernon-English-speakingareas,tocreateeffectiveEnglishtranslationsthataccurately
