Indonesia'sat40deathsper1000comparedto31inIndonesia.Bangladesh
hadbyfarthelowestqualityoflifeinallthefourindicators.ItsGNPwas
onlyaboutone-fortieththatoftheU.S.A.Thefigureintermsofthedaily
caloriesupplyperheadinBangladeshisthehalfofthatinU.S.A,andits
infantmortalityratewas6timesgreater.Inconclusionitcanbeseenfromthe
economicindicatorsthatthefourdevelopingcountrieshavealongwaytogo
beforereachingthesamelevelofqualityoflifeastheU.S.A.Atthesame
timetheU.S:A.hastheresponsibilitytohelptheothercountriestodevelop
theireconomiesandimprovetheirpeople'slivingstandards.Thetableuses
fourbroadeconomicindicatorstoshowthestandardoflivinginfiveselected
countriesin2000,includingboththemostdevelopednationintheworldand
someofthemuchlessdevelopednations.Ascanbeseenfromthestatistics,
theU.S.A.—oneoftherichestcountriesintheworld-hadthehighestGNP
anddailycalorieintake,thelongestlifeexpectancyandthelowestinfant
mortalityrate.Theotherdevelopingcountrieshadaconsiderablylower
qualityoflife.Egypt,IndonesiaandBoliviaweresimilarintheirrangeof
indicators,withEgypthavingthehighestqualityoflifeamongthethree.
However,Egypt'sinfantmortalityratewasslightlyhigherthanIndonesia's,at
