Many

years

ago,

on

my

first

day

of

middle

school,

one

of

my

roommates

turned

to

me

for

help.

He

took

a

bottle

of

water

out

of

his

bag.

I

opened

it

for

him

easily,

and

he

thanked

me.

But

I

felt

quite

shy

when

he

said

thanks

to

me.

A

week

later,

we

started

to

receive

military

training(軍訓).

We

needed

to

gather

at

6:

30

a.m.

every

day.

However,

I

was

still

in

the

bed

at

6:

00

on

the

first

day.

My

roommate

woke

me

up

and

I

really

thanked

him.

Luckily,

neither

of

us

was

late

for

that

day's

training.

Later,

I

had

a

talk

with

him.

“Perhaps

we

don't

have

to

say

thanks

to

each

other

so

often

because

we

have

become

real

friends.”

I

said.

He

thought

over

my

words

and

nodded.

Over

the

next

three

years,

we

continued

to

help

each

other,

but

we

almost

never

said

thank

you.

For

many

years,

I

didn't

think

it

was

necessary

to

say

thank

you

out

loud.

I

also

felt

embarrassed(尷尬的)

after

I

had

been

thanked

for

offering

someone

just

a

little

bit

of

help.

My

attitude(態(tài)度)towards

saying

thanks

didn't

change

until

I

helped

a

group

of

kids.

It

was

a

tiring

walk

when

I

was

on

my

way

home

after

a

day's

class.

Some

little

kids

threw

the

ball

onto

the

tree

by

accident

while

playing

football.

They

asked

me

for

help,

so

I

did.

Then

the

kids

said

“Thank

you”

one

by

one

with

big

smiles

on

their

faces

when

I

handed

the

ball

to

them.

I

was

surprised,

but

it

really

made

me

feel

warm

at

that

moment.

I

realized

the

importance

of

expressing

thanks

from

then

on.

Showing

thanks

is

a

polite

way

for

a

conversation.

It

will

let

the

other

side

know

that

you're

thankful

for

his

or

her

action.

So

next

time,

when

you

feel

thankful,

express

your

thanks

bravely.1.How

did

the

writer

feel

when

his

roommate

thanked

him?A.

Happy.

B.

Proud.

C.

Shy.

D.

Warm.2.Why

didn't

the

writer

often

say

thanks

to

his

roommate?A.

Because

he

never

said

thanks.B.

Because

he

thought

real

friends

needn't

say

thanks.C.

Because

he

thought

the

help

was

too

little

to

say

thanks.D.

Because

he

thought

saying

thanks

made

him

embarrassed.3.What

changed

the

writer's

attitude

towards

saying

thanks?A.

The

advice

of

the

teacher.B.

The

help

of

his

roommate.C.

The

influence

of

his

parents.D.

The

thanks

from

the

little

kids.4.In

A.

Space.

B.

title

for

the

text?

A.

Say

thank

you

aloud.

to

others.

to

According

to

Ken

Croswell,

the

Sun

and

the

Moon

are

different.

We

often

think

that

the

Sun

rules

the

day

and

the

Moon

rules

the

night.

That's

kind

of

right,

but

not

totally.

The

Sun

shines

all

the

time.

It

shines

during

the

day

when

we

see

it,

and

even

at

night

when

we

don't.

As

the

Earth

turns,

sometimes

we

face

the

Sun.

That's

when

we

get

day.

When

the

Earth's

spin(自轉(zhuǎn))

turns

us

away

from

the

Sun

and

we

are

in

the

Earth's

shadow,

we

get

night.

When

people

on

the

opposite

side

of

the

Earth

face

the

Sun,

those

people

have

day

while

we

have

night.

The

Moon

is

a

different

story.

Unlike

the

Sun,

it

doesn't

make

its

own

light.

Moonlight

is

actually

the

Sun's

light

reflecting(反射)

the

Moon

back

to

us.

The

Sun

lights

up

only

the

side

of

the

Moon

that

faces

the

Sun.

At

Full

Moon,

the

Moon

is

on

the

opposite

side

of

the

Earth

from

the

Sun.

Then

the

side

of

the

Moon

facing

the

Earth

is

all

lit

up.

During

Full

Moon,

the

Moon

rises

around

sunset,

shines

all

night,

and

sets

around

sunrise.

Since

the

moonlight

is

so

bright,

you

can

sometimes

see

it

during

the

day,

too.

A

few

days

before

Full

Moon,

if

you

look

east

in

the

afternoon,

you

may

see

the

Moon

in

the

sky.

After

Full

Moon,

you

may

find

it

if

you

look

west

in

the

morning.

The

Moon

is

most

difficult

to

see

at

New

Moon,

when

its

orbit(軌道)

puts

it

between

the

Earth

and

the

Sun.

Then,

the

side

of

the

Moon

facing

the

Earth

is

dark

and

we

can't

see

the

Moon

at

all.1.What

can

we

know

about

the

Sun?

A.

The

Sun

rules

the

Moon.B.

The

Sun

shines

during

both

day

and

night.C.

The

Sun

lights

up

all

the

sides

of

the

Moon.D.

The

the

that

it's

hard

to

take

your

eyes

off

your

phone?

Are

you

afraid

of

missing

any

messages

from

your

friends?

If

the

answer

to

any

of

these

questions

is

“Yes.”,

you

may

be

suffering

from

social

anxiety(焦慮).

But

don't

worry,

here

are

some

tips

that

are

helpful

to

you.1.________

You

should

stop

worrying

about

what

you

may

be

missing

out

on.

Instead,

try

to

focus

on(關注)

the

good

things

you

have

already

been

doing.

Use

your

spare

time

to

do

things

you

enjoy,

such

soccer.2.________

Setting

time

limits(限制)

for

how

long

you

read

through

or

use

social

media

each

day

can

be

helpful.

Although

the

powerful

Internet

seems

to

connect

us

all

together,

the

relationship

it

brings

to

us

is

not

real.3.________

Expressing

your

problems

may

help

you

find

people

with

the

same

problems.

You'll

realize

that

you

are

not

alone.

You

can

also

have

a

discussion

with

them

and

look

for

solutions

together.4.________

When

you

feel

lonely,

why

not

meet

up

with

people

in

the

real

life?

Don't

lose

yourself

in

the

Internet.

Take

the

first

step

bravely.

Ask

your

friends

out.5.________

By

recording

three

things

you

really

want

to

thank

most

every

day,

you

can

find

out

more

important

things

than

smart

in

Do

things

Keep

a

Speak

Cut

down

the

time
