希拉里美中貿(mào)易全國委員會晚宴致辭Thankyousomuch,Carla,andthanksforyourleadershipinthisundertakingaswellassomuchelse.It’swonderfultobehereattheendoftwoverybusyandproductivedaysoftheStrategicandEconomicDialogue.SecretaryGeithnerandIwereprivilegedtoco-leadthiseffort,andwewereespeciallypleasedthatVicePremierWangandStateCouncilorDaiwereourcounterparts.WebelievethattheseveryproductiveconversationshavehelpedtolaythefoundationforwhatbothPresidentObamaandPresidentHucalledapositive,cooperative,andcomprehensiveU.S.-Chineserelationshipforthe21stcentury.

非常感謝，卡拉，謝謝你在這項事業(yè)和其他眾多事務中發(fā)揮的領導作用。能在美中戰(zhàn)略與經(jīng)濟對話（StrategicandEconomicDialogue）繁忙而富有成果的兩天會議結束后來到這里出席晚宴真是令人愉快。蓋特納（Geithner）部長和我十分榮幸地共同主持這一對話，同時，我們也為有王岐山副總理和戴秉國國務委員與我們共同主持對話而感到特別高興。我們認為，這些極富成果的討論有助于為發(fā)展奧巴馬總統(tǒng)和胡錦濤主席所說的21世紀積極合作全面的美中關系奠定基礎。Aspartofthisprocess,weareenlistingthefullrangeoftalentwithinourgovernmentstotackleproblemsthatspillovernotjustbordersandoceans,butalsotraditionalbureaucraticboundaries,whicharesometimesthehardesttoovercome,fromclimatechangetotradeandinvestmenttopovertyanddisease.

正如今天沒有任何一個國家有能力獨自應對我們面臨的各種挑戰(zhàn)，政府也不能孤立運作，因為需要解決的問題紛繁而復雜。因此，鼓勵政府部門以外的人才——包括民營部門的人才和今晚在場的各位——參與，利用他們的專業(yè)知識、經(jīng)驗與精力，對取得未來的進展至關重要。IalsoamdelightedthatwearegoingtohaveverysoonanewambassadorfromtheUnitedStatestoChina.GovernorHuntsman,whowillsoonbe–maybeevenconfirmedtonight–AmbassadorHuntsman,islookingforwardtoworkingnotonlyonbehalfofournation’spoliciesbutreallyrepresentingtheAmericanpeopletotheChinesepeople.

我也為我們即將有一位新任美國駐華大使而感到高興。亨茨曼（Huntsman，中文名洪博培）州長，他很快——或許今晚就會被確認——亨茨曼大使不僅期待著為執(zhí)行我國的政策而工作，而且期待著作為美國人民的代表與中國人民交往。Wewanttheentrepreneursandtheinnovatorsinbothofourcountriestoknowthatwe’rebehindtheirdreamsandtheirefforts.Wewantpeoplewhoareworkingtosolveproblemsinresearchlabsandonthefrontlinesofinnovationtoknowthatwe’relookingtosupporttheirefforts.Becausewethinkpublic-privatepartnershipsareacenterpieceoftheimportantworkthatwearedoingtobuildunderstandingandcreatenewavenuesofcooperation.

但這些都是關于未來的事情。我以前已經(jīng)講過這個故事，但我要在有幸介紹下一位演講者之前把它講完。星期天晚上，戴國務委員與我在布萊爾賓館（BlairHouse）出席一個十分美好和輕松愉快的社交晚宴。這是一場規(guī)模很小的晚宴，我們交談的話題可謂天南地北，無所不包，彼此加深了了解。我們談的不是兩個偉大國家的公務——如何努力為兩國人民和全世界決定今后走哪條最好的道路，但卻關系到一件十分重要的事情。AndwhatisimportantisthatCouncilorDaihadjusthadanewgrandson.Andhetoldmewiththatwonderfulsmilethatlightsuphisface,andwewerethinkingaboutthesignificanceofwhatweweretoembarkonforthelasttwodays.AndIsuggestedthatbeforeeverymeetingwebringpicturesofourchildrenandourgrandchildren,becausetruly,thatiswhatthisworkisallabout.Thatiswhatshouldguideusandinspireusandchastenuswithrespecttothedecisionsthatwemake.SothatisgoingtocertainlybeaprincipleofparticipationandcommitmentthatCouncilorDaiandIintendtopursue.

這件十分重要的事情是：戴國務委員剛剛得了一個孫子。他跟我講起這件事的時候，臉上綻開燦爛的笑容。我們當時想到這兩天的會議所啟動的進程的重大意義。我建議每次開會前我們把我們的孩子和我們的孫子孫女的照片帶來，因為的確這就是我們這項工作的真正目的。這就是在我們作出決定時應該引導我們、鼓舞我們、鞭策我們的原則。因此它將肯定成為戴國務委員和我打算遵循的參與和承諾的原則。Becausethisispartofanewbeginning.Itistheculminationofaprocessbegundecadesago,whenDr.Kissingerwasinstrumentalinopeningthedoortothepossibilitythatthencameintofruitionyears,tenyears,laterofnormalizedrelations.WeweresoconstantlythinkingofHenryKissingeroverthelastdaysgettingreadyforthis,becausehiswork,hiscourage,theriskthathetook,hasledusinmanywaystothisevening.
