其否定式為notas/so+adj./adv.+as。e.g.Thisdictionaryisnotas/sousefulasyouthink.這本字典不如你想象的那樣有用。若有修飾成分，如twice,threetimes,half,aquarter等，則須置于第一個(gè)as之前。

Languagepoint3Wehadtowearourjacketsandboots…h(huán)aveto是一個(gè)比較特殊的情態(tài)短語(yǔ)，雖然也具有情態(tài)動(dòng)詞的功能，但卻與其他的情態(tài)動(dòng)詞不同。它有人稱、數(shù)和時(shí)態(tài)的變化，其否定式和疑問(wèn)式的構(gòu)成方式也與情態(tài)動(dòng)詞不一樣。同學(xué)們?cè)谑褂胔aveto時(shí)必須弄清它的真面目，否則容易出錯(cuò)。

一、haveto與其他情態(tài)動(dòng)詞一樣也是后接動(dòng)詞原形，表示外界的強(qiáng)制作用，強(qiáng)調(diào)被迫性。含有不情愿的色彩，常譯為“必須，不得不”。二、haveto可用于多種時(shí)態(tài)，而且不同時(shí)態(tài)使用不同的形式：一般現(xiàn)在時(shí)中，主語(yǔ)為第三人稱單數(shù)時(shí)用hasto;一般過(guò)去時(shí)中，用

hadto。haveto還可以用在其他的情態(tài)動(dòng)詞之后。e.g.Ihavetodosomewashing.

我必須洗洗衣服。e.g.Shehastolookafterherlittlesister.她不得不照顧她的小妹妹。

昨晚我不得不做作業(yè)。

三、haveto的否定式和疑問(wèn)式一般要借用助動(dòng)詞do的適當(dāng)形式構(gòu)成。haveto的否定式是don’thaveto；hasto的否定式是doesn’thaveto；hadto的否定式是didn’thaveto。haveto的疑問(wèn)式同樣也借用助動(dòng)詞do的相應(yīng)形式構(gòu)成。e.g.Hedoesn’thavetodothehomeworknow.
