Canada'sMiningIndustryLecturer:GuoZhiwenCanadaislocatedintheNorthAmerica.Miningisoneofthemostimportantindustriesinitsnationaleconomy.Canadaisalsooneofthemostimportantcountriesofmineralresources,mineralproductionandmineralproductsexportintheworld,andoneofthelargestandmostactiveminingfinance,informationandtradingcentersintheworld.Thepotentialvalueofmineralreservesrankstheseventhintheworld,accountingforabout3.8%oftheworld.Therearemorethan60kindsofmineralresources,ofwhichthereservesofindiumandpotasharethefirstintheworld.Uranium,niobium,tungstenandsulfuroccupysecondoftheworld,andcadmiumandseleniumoccupythirdoftheworld.Amongthem,theoutputofnickel,zinc,platinumandasbestosranksfirstintheworld,whileuranium,gold,cadmium,bismuthandgypsumranksecondintheworld.Theprovenreservesofcrudeoilare8billionbarrels.Moreover,Canadaisrichinironoreresources.Bytheendof2004,thereservesandreservebaseofironore(metalliciron)were1.1billiontonsand2.5billiontonsrespectively.Canadahasfavorablegeologicalconditions.Thecountryisdividedintofourunits.Itisrichinmineralresourcesandthemostimportantmineralresourceconcentrationareaintheworld,includingironore,goldore,lead-zinc,etc.Canada'sminingindustryismainlycomposedof3000domesticcompaniesand150foreigncompanies,butlessthan10%ofthemareengagedinactualminingac
