1、中國寓言小故事:扣槃捫燭和秦土好古In the past, a man was born blind. He had neverseen the su n, so of course he had no idea what thesun looked like.過去,有個盲人一生下來就是失明的.他從來沒有見過太陽,當(dāng) 然不知道太陽究竟是什么樣子;But he would like very much to know the shape ofthe sun, s o he asked people with good eyes.但是他很想知道太陽的模樣.于是,他向眼睛好的人詢問.Someone

2、told him:有人告訴他:The sun is like a copper plate. “太陽的形狀像個銅盤.The blind man was very glad to hear this.When he returned home, he struck the copper plateand heard a ding-dong sou nd.盲人聽了很快樂,回到家里,敲敲銅盤,發(fā)出叮叮當(dāng)當(dāng)?shù)穆曇?Later, when he heard the toll of a bell, he thought it was the sun.后來,偶然聽到鐘聲,他就以為是太陽.Another ma

3、n told him:又有個人對他說:The sun can give out light like a candle.“太陽能發(fā)光,就像蠟燭一樣.When the blind man returned home, he touched the candle , and remembered well its shape.盲人回到家里,摸摸蠟燭,牢牢地記住了它的形狀.One day, he touched a yue (flute) and said happily:This is the sun. 有一天,他摸到一支籬,得意洋洋地說:“這是太陽In the Qin Dynasty, ther

4、e was a scholar addicted toantiques.秦朝時,有個讀書人,好古成癖.He was so fond of collecting them that he would buythem no matter how costly they were.他喜歡收藏古董古玩,無論價(jià)格多么昂貴,都要買下來.One day, a man came to his door to peddle a worn-out straw mat.He said to the Qin scholar:一天,有個人拿著一張破席子,登門兜售,對秦士說 :In those years,Ai Gong

5、 of the State of Lu gave aseat to Con fucius to inquire about politicalaffairs.This was the very straw mat on which Confucius had sat.“當(dāng)年,獸哀公設(shè)席,賜孔子坐,詢問政事.這張正是當(dāng)年孔子 坐過的席子.Overjoyed to hear this,the Qin scholar believed it to be true.So he exchanged the land near hismanor for this worn-out st raw mat.秦

6、士喜出望外,信以為真,便用莊園附近的田地?fù)Q下了這張破席 子.A few days later, another man came to peddle a walking stic k. He told the Qin scholar:過了幾天,又有一個人拿著一根拐杖來賣,告訴秦士:This walking stick was used by Gu Gong Dan Fu, ancestor of King Wen of the ZhouDynasty,when he led his people to l eave Bin in order to elude the invasion of t

7、he Di people.“這根手杖,還是周文王的祖先古公宜父,為躲避狄人侵略,率 領(lǐng)眾人離開那的時候所用的手杖.In terms of age, it was several hundred years earlier than th e straw mat which Confucius hadsat on. Sir, what will you re ward me? 論年代,比孔子坐的席子還要早幾百年.先生準(zhǔn)備用什么來酬謝 我呢The Qin scholar was pleased as if he had found a treasure,a nd gave this man all

8、 the money inhis house.秦士如獲至寶,將家中全部的錢財(cái)都給了這個人.A few days later, another man with a broken bowl boasted tothe Qin scholar:幾天后,又有人端著一只破碗,對秦士夸耀說Sir, neither the straw mat nor the walking stick is a genuine antique , whereas this bowl wasactually made in the time of King lie of the Xia Dynasty,which is m

9、ore remote than the Zh ouDynasty. “先生,席子和手杖都不是什么古董,而這只破碗,倒真正是夏梁時造的,比周朝更古遠(yuǎn)了.The Qin scholar believed this broken bowl was more ancient than the straw mat and thewalking stick,秦士以為,這只破碗比席子和手杖更加古老.so he gave up his house and courtyard for the broken bowl.于是,他用自己居住的宅院買下了這只破碗.The scholar possessed the st

10、raw mat,the walking stick and t he broken bowl, but he had lostall his fortune .席子、手杖、破碗,三件古董全部到手了,而秦士也傾家蕩產(chǎn)了.Though he had neither food nor clothes, his fondness for ant iques remained unchanged. Allalong he could not bear to par t with these three antiques ".這位讀書人,盡管衣食無著,可是他的好古之心,依然如故,始 終舍不得丟掉這三件“古董.Since then, the Qin scholar, draping the straw mat of Ai Gon g of Lu over his shoulders,從此,秦士披著魯哀公的席子,拄著古公宜父的拐杖,using the walking stick of Gu Gong Dan Fu,and holding the broken bowl of the time of Xia Jie, begged along the street, and kept on shouting:端著夏架時的破碗,沿街乞討,嘴里不停地叫
