Period4“介詞+關系代詞”引導的定語從句“介詞+關系代詞”引導的定語從句是一個難點,也是高考的重要考點。其使用的關系代詞一般是which,whom或whose,在句中既可以引導限制性定語從句,也可以引導非限制性定語從句。在學習時我們要注意以下幾點:
(1)關系代詞的選用在介詞后作賓語的關系代詞一般只有which,whose和whom。如果先行詞是物,引導詞用which;如果先行詞是人,則引導詞用whom;whose適用于兩者。ThisistheshipbywhichIwenttoShanghai.這是我去上海時所乘坐的船。ThisisthestudentforwhomIboughtthebook.這是我給買書的那個學生。ThebossinwhosefirmIworkedfor10yearsretiredyesterday.我供職十年的那家公司的老板昨天退休了。(2)介詞的選用確定“介詞+關系代詞”中介詞的方法主要有以下四種:①根據定語從句中的謂語動詞或形容詞來選用ThefellowtowhomIspokemadenoansweratfirst.和我說話的那個人起先沒有回答。(speakto)TheWestLake,forwhichHangzhouisfamous,isabeautifulplace.西湖是個美麗的地方,杭州以此而聞名。(befamousfor)②根據先行詞來確定Inhisroom,wesawabigtableonwhichtherewereallkindsofbooks.在他的屋子里,我看見一張上面放著各種書的大桌子。(onthetable)Yesterdaywehadameetingatwhichwediscussedmanyproblems.昨天我們開了一個會,會上我們討論了許多問題。(atthemeeting)③根據定語從句所表達的意義來確定Air,withoutwhichmancan’tlive,isreallyimportant.空氣確實太重要了,沒有它人類就不能生存。④有時需要同時考慮動詞和介詞的搭配關系及介詞和先行詞的搭配關系Thecleverboymadeaholeinthewallthroughwhichhecouldseewhatwashappeninginsidethehouse.這個聰明的孩子在墻上挖了一個洞通過它看到屋里面發(fā)生的事情。(seesomethingthroughthehole)(3)介詞的位置介詞若與從句中的動詞詞組有關,可置于關系代詞前,也可置于動詞后,但若此介詞與動詞為固定詞組,則此介詞一般不前置。例如:①YesterdaywepaidavisittothehouseinwhichLuXunoncelived.→YesterdaywepaidavisittothehousewhichLuXunoncelivedin.昨天,我們參觀了魯迅的故居。②ThisistheverypenthatI’mlookingfor.這就是我正在尋找的那支鋼筆。(lookfor為固定詞組,介詞for不前置)③Thepatientwhomthenurselookedafterwasbecomingbetterandbetter.(lookafter為固定搭配,介詞after不前置)那護士照顧的那個病人正在好轉。(4)在限制性定語從句中,介詞前置時,關系代詞不能用that,且不能省略;若介詞后置,則可以用that,也可以省略。
例如:ThisistheschoolinwhichIstudied3yearsago.這就是三年前我在此學習過的那所學校?!鶷hisistheschool(which/that)Istudiedin3yearsago.(5)表示所屬關系時,介詞應用of,關系代詞為which/whom,即n.+of+which/whom,可轉換為whose+n.。例如:①Helivesinaroom,thewindowofwhichfaceswest.→Helivesinaroomwhosewindowfaceswest.他住在一個房間里,房間的窗子向西開著。②Thechildwassavedbyaman,thenameofwhomwasnotknown.
→Thechildwassavedbyaman,whosenamewasnotknown.這個孩子被一位不知姓名的男子所救。(6)表示“整體中的一部分”或“……中最……的”,介詞
