用X-光電子能譜(XPS)研究MoS_2晶體表面的氧化Introduction

Molybdenumdisulfide(MoS2)isalayeredtransitionmetaldichalcogenidewithatwo-dimensionalhexagonallatticestructurethathasdrawnsignificantattentionasapotentialcandidateforenergystorage,catalysis,andelectronics.However,thesurfaceoxidationofMoS2couldleadtoseriousdegradationofitsphysicalandchemicalproperties,andthusaffectitsapplications.Therefore,understandingthesurfaceoxidationofMoS2iscritical.Here,wereportontheuseofX-rayphotoelectronspectroscopy(XPS)toinvestigatetheoxidationofMoS2.

ExperimentalSetup

TheMoS2sampleswerepreparedbychemicalvapordeposition(CVD)ontoaSiO2substrate.XPSmeasurementswereperformedusingaThermoScientificK-AlphaXPSinstrumentwithamonochromaticAlKαX-raysource.Thepressureduringthemeasurementswaskeptbelow2×10^-9Torr.

ResultsandDiscussion

TheXPSspectraoftheMoS2samplesshowthreedistinctpeakscorrespondingtotheMo3d,S2p,andO1sphotoelectronsignals.TheMo3dpeakisdeconvolutedintotwocomponents:Mo3d5/2andMo3d3/2.TheS2ppeakisdeconvolutedintotwocomponents:S2p1/2andS2p3/2.TheO1speakappearsduetothesurfaceoxidationofMoS2.

TounderstandthesurfaceoxidationofMoS2,wequantifiedtheO/MoatomratioasafunctionofthedepthbyusingdepthprofilingwithArionsputtering.TheO/Moatomratiowasfoundtoincreasegraduallyfromthesurfacetowardsthebulkregion,indicatingthattheoxidationofMoS2occurredonthesurface.Thedepthprofilingalsosuggestedthatthethicknessoftheoxidizedlayerwasabout2nm,whichagreeswellwiththepreviousstudies.

Finally,weanalyzedthespectraoftheO1speaktoidentifythechemicalstatesoftheoxygenspeciesonthesurfaceofMoS2.TheO1speakcanbedeconvolutedintotwomaincomponents:theMo-Ospeciesat~531eVandthesurfaceadsorbedhydroxyl(OH)groupsat~533eV.ThepresenceofhydroxylgroupsindicatestheexistenceofwatermoleculesonthesurfaceofMoS2,whichcouldcontributetothedegradationofitsproperties.
