1.細心審題、分析材料(2-3分鐘)
考生讀題時,首先需要找出題目的主題詞或句(topicwordsorsentence),即題目所給出的關鍵信息。明顯了什么是重要信息,什么是次要信息。以專八樣題為例,題目中的collegestudywillneverbethesameforbothprofessorsandstudents是主要信息和關鍵信息,其他內(nèi)容是次要信息。所以文章應當論證onlinelearningorMOOCS會給高等教育帶來哪些不同。然后,考生必需完成題目中所提出的兩項任務要求:1.summarizebrieflytheopinionsfrombothsides;2.giveyourcomment。也就是說,既要概括雙方觀點,又要給出自己的評論,缺一不可。就此題目來說,概括學校一方對線上授課或慕課平臺的評價:“TheUniversityofWashington(UW)intheUSisn'tshyaboutthebenefitsanddrawbacksofonlineeducation.〞(在線教育既有不可替代的優(yōu)點,也有局限性。)也要提煉出學生一方對這一方式的認識:“Butformetheseconcernsfallflatinthefaceoftheconvenience,flexibilityandindependenceonlinelearningoffers.〞(學習者充共享受這一學習方式的便捷性、靈活性和獨立性。)當然也有學生認為,在某些方面,課堂教學更有優(yōu)勢:“AlthoughMOOCsareimprovingmylearningexperiences,thisnewformofteachingcannotcompetewithtraditionalwaysoflearningintermsofteacher-studentinteraction.〞
2.列出提綱、確定布局(3-4分鐘)
在審完題后,就要提煉出中心思想(centralidea)。就本文而言,在概括雙方觀點的基礎上,提煉出自己的觀點:Consideringbothsides,itisclearthatonlineteachingsystemorplatformscanhelpstudentsachievehigherlearningeffectivenessdespiteitsdrawbacks.綜合來看,這種方式盡管也有缺點,但是能夠極大地提高學習者的學習效果。這個觀點緊扣題目中的主題句collegestudywillneverbethesameforbothprofessorsandstudents。
明確了中心思想以后,接下來要構思文章的結構,寫出大體的框架或簡明的提綱。專八作文可以按兩種模式來寫,但一般都是四段式。
第一種模式是分為導語、概述、評論和結尾四部分。導語部分給出觀點,概述部分對材料進行評述,評論部分對觀點進行論證,結尾部分總結論點。
其次種模式是導語部分(一兩句話)和概述部分作為第一段,而評論部分可以從兩個方面來論述,作為其次段和第三段,最終是結尾段。
毋庸置疑,一個明了的提綱對正式寫作起著十分重要的作用,可以保證寫作思路明了,避免偏離主題。
3.正式寫作(30-35分鐘)
下面以其次種模式為例并結合寫作樣題范文對各部分的寫法進行一一介紹。
(1)導語+概述部分的寫法
首先用一句話引出寫作背景。例如,寫作樣題范文第一句:Moderntechnologyhasinnovatedthewayteachingandlearningcanbeinpeople’slife.(現(xiàn)代科技創(chuàng)新了人們生活中的教學方式。)然后引出題目并概括出針對題目雙方有不同的關注或者持有不同的觀點:Onlineteachingsystemorplatformsisarecentphenomenonandconsequentlyitiscontroversial.Inspiteofthefactthatbothuniversitiesandstudentshaveembracedthisnewstyleofteachingandlearning,therearestillworriesandconcerns.(線上教學方式受到學校和學生的歡迎,同時作為一種新的教學方式,人們對它也有不同的聲音。)最終給出自己的觀點:Consideringbothsides,itisclearthatonlineteachingsystemorplatformscanhelpstudentsachievehigherlearningeffectivenessdespiteitsdrawbacks.(綜合來看,這種方式盡管也有缺點,但是能夠極大地提高學習者的學習效果。)
(2)評論部分的寫法
評論部分可以從兩個方面來論述。以寫作樣題為例,其次段闡述一方的觀點或問題的一面:先給出中心句(Collegestudentsnowenjoygreaterbenefits.)然后闡述第一個原因(Firstly,thankstomoderntechnology,learningonlinegivesstudentsaccesstoawiderrangeofcourses.)之后展開陳述。接著闡述其次個原因(Secondly,theflexibilityandmobilitygivenbytheonlineteachingsystemmakesstudentslearnatanytimeanywhereintheirconvenience.)之后展開陳述。
第三段指出問題的另一面或者另一方的觀點(Ontheotherhand,onlineteachingandlearningismuchdemandingandrequiresstudents’fullcommitmentandindependence)接著分別用admittedly和meanwhile引出onlinelearning的局限性。假使有反方觀點的話,可以先陳述反方觀點的合理性,然后駁斥反方觀點的不合理性。
(3)結尾段的寫法
首先重申觀點(Inconclusion,withthegreatesttechnologicalboomineducation,onlinelearningorMOOCS,isanirreversibletrend.)然后提出不能忽視問題的另一面(So,thequestionreallyisnot“Whichone?〞butrather,“Howcanwecombineboth?〞Theansweristhateachperformsitsownfunctions.)最終對觀點進行提升(Undoubtedly,thisrevolutionarypracticeineducationwillcontinuouslyhavemorefar-reachingconsequencesandwilldramaticallyreshapethenatureofhighereducation.)
值得注意的是,概述部分不應當太長(以不超過文章總長度的三分之一為宜),也不要大量引用材料中的句子,否則很簡單失分。評論段是文章的主體部分,寫作時應條理明了,論述有據(jù),占文章長度的三分之二左右。導語和結尾都不宜太長,簡要說明即可。
4.檢查修改(2-3分鐘)
對文章中的語法、用詞、拼寫、標點和大小寫都要一一檢查,甚至還要對文章內(nèi)容或字數(shù)的不足進行補救。這一步驟不但在正式考試中不能忽略,而且在平日的寫作訓練中也要引起重視,養(yǎng)成習慣。
