WhenIwasaskedaboutthisquestionforthefirsttime,withoutthinkingittoomuch,awordflashintomymind——DREAM,D-R-E-A-M.Peoplemoreorlessdreamaboutdifferentthings,tobeateacher,adoctor,ascientist,abusinessmanandsoon.Allthesepeoplewhohavedreamsshouldberespected,becauseDreamsmaketheworldgoaround.Wegrowgreatbyourdreams.Allbigmenaregreatdreamersintheiryouth.Everyonehasadream,andeverythingstartsasone’sdaydream.

MartinLutherkinghadadream.Hedesiredforafuturewhereblacksandwhiteswouldcoexistharmoniouslyasequals.Byspeakingthewayhedid,heeducated,heinspired,heinformednotjustthepeoplethere,butpeoplethroughoutAmericaandunborngenerations.HepushedforwardthepaceofAmericanblacksocietytowardstheracialequality.

ThomasEdisonhadadream.Hedreamedofalampthatcouldbeoperatedbyelectricity,beganwherehestoodtoputhisdreamintoaction,anddespitemorethantenthousandfailures,hestoodbythatdreamuntilhemadeitaphysicalreality!Andtoday,hisdreamlightsuptheworldatnight.

WaltDisneyhadadream.This,initself,wasn'tunusual--hewasalwaysdreaming.Hedreamedofmakingthefirstanimatedfeaturefilm,andofbuildinganamusementparkthatparentscouldenjoyrightalongwiththeirkids.WaltDisneyempoweredhisdreamandtoday,Disneyland,DisneyworldandDisneythemeparksattractaroundtheworldthrillmillionsofvisitorseachandeveryyear.

JohnF.kennedyhadadream.HewantedtolandamanonthemoonandreturnhimsafelytoearthsoastorestorefaithintheAmericanwayoflife.JohnF.kennedyempoweredhisdreamand8yearslaterNeilArmstrongsteppedonthefaceofthemoon.ThemoonlandingcertainlygaveAmericansnewfoundconfidence.
