CanactivatealphaandbetaadrenergicreceptorsActionsCardiovascular:stimulatoryeffectonthebeta1receptorsoftheheart,havingbothinotropicandchronotropiceffects.Athighdoses,vasoconstrictionRenalandvisceral:dopaminedilatesrenalarteriolesbyactivatingdopaminergicreceptors,thusincreasesbloodflowtothekidneysandotherviscera TherapeuticusesShock:dopamineisthedrugofchoiceforshock.Itraisesthebloodpressurebystimulatingtheheart(beta1action).Dopamineisfarsuperiortonorepinephrine.AdrenergicantagonistsOverview:bindtoadrenoceptorsbutdonottriggertheusualreceptor-mediatedintracellulareffectsAlphaadrenergicblockingagentsReducesthesympathetictoneofthebloodvessels,resultingindecreasedperipheralvascularresistance.PhenoxybenzamineNon-selective,alpha1postsynapticandalpha2presynapticreceptorsLastabout24hafterasingleadministrationActionsCardiovasculareffects:thedecreasedperipheralresistanceprovokesareflextachycardiaEpinephrinereversal:reversethealphaagonistactionsofepinephrineTherapeuticusesIsusedinthetreatmentofpheochromocytoma,acatecholamine-secretingtumorofcellsderivedfromtheadrenalmedul
