Mexico,lackexpressionfortense.Nordosuchlanguagesobjectifytime.InHopionecannotcountdays,

minutes,yearsasthoughtheywereobjectslikestones.Everydayexpressionslike"Threeyearswentby"

areimpossibleinHopi.

Comparingsuchlanguages,Whorfproposedthat"ouruseoftenseorourobjectifiedviewoftimeis
