TheHistoryofThanksgiving:

ThanksgivingisaholidaythatoriginatedinAmericaandiscelebratedonthefourthThursdayinNovember.ThefirstThanksgivingwascelebratedin1621bythePilgrimsandtheWampanoagIndians.Itwasacelebrationoftheharvestandatimetogivethanksfortheabundanceoffoodthathadbeenprovided.

Overtheyears,Thanksgivinghasevolvedintoatimetogivethanksforalltheblessingsinourlives.Itisatimetogatherwithfamilyandfriends,enjoyabigfeast,andparticipateinfunactivitiessuchasparades,footballgames,andothertraditions.

WhatitMeanstoBeThankful:

Beingthankfulmeansacknowledgingthegoodthingsinourlivesandexpressinggratitudeforthem.Itisaboutfocusingonwhatwehaveratherthanwhatwedon'thave.Whenwearethankful,wearehappierandmorecontentwithourlives.Weappreciatethelittlethings,andwearemorelikelytohelpothersandbekindtothosearoundus.

Therearemanywaystodemonstrategratitude.Herearesomeexamples:

SayThankYou:Expressinggratitudeisassimpleassayingthankyou.Whensomeonedoessomethingkindforyou,takeamomenttothankthem.Itcanbeaverbalthankyou,ahandwrittennote,orasmallgift.

Volunteer:Givingyourtimeandenergytoothersisagreatwaytoshowyourgratitude.Volunteeratalocalsoupkitchen,homelessshelter,orcommunitycenter.Helpingothersisarewardingexperiencethatwillmakeyoufeelgoodaboutyourself.
