times,havebeenchallengingtobuyinsupermarkets.Shesays,"'Coronavirushasreminded

peopleoftheweaknesswithinourglobalfoodsystem.Insuchadifficulttime,interestin

self-supportrises.^^

wasindependentofageoreducationlevel.Thestudyfoundthatintroverts(性格內(nèi)向的人)

weremorelikelytoviewapeerwhomisspelledsomethingasabadroommate.

However,whilerespondentswereacceptingofimpropergrammar,mostofthem

reportedusingpropergrammarthemselveswhentextingandemailing.48%answered4tImay

useimpropergrammar“whenaskedabouttheirtextinghabits,while52%saidtheyused

propergrammarwhensendingemails.So,itwasnotthateveryonewhomadeanefforttouse

correctgrammarwouldn'tforgivethosewhoweremorecreativeintheirtextual

communication.

Thisisgreatnews,asnonegativelinkshavebeenmadebetweenusingimproper

grammarwhentextingandliteracyscores.Infact,thelinkbetween^timproper^^languageuse

andlanguagelearningisproventobepositive.Keepthatinmindnexttimeyoufindyourself

shakingyourheadatatextmessagewithimpropergrammar.Usingimpropergrammarwhen

sendingtextmessagesoremailsdoesnotmeanalackofwritingskills.However,young

learnersaresupposedtoseparateschoolworkfrommediacommunication.Afterall,itisone

thingtowriteschoolwork,butitisanothertocommunicateonsocialmediaplatforms.
