Mole still wanted to try it, but accidentally swamp the boat. Mole apologized and they still enjoy their trip. They spend many days together to enjoy the life of

Although Water Rat was reluctant to leave his river, he agree to go. But just on the second day of the journey, Toad

6、 ran out of his passion. After a strange “Poop-poop” rang, a motor-car passed, the horse became disturbed and drove the cart towards the deep ditch. Rat suddenly became angry and shouted, but Toad was fascinated by motor-car madly. His friends give up to wake him up from the dream of motor-car, back

After Toad came back to his home, he ordered a large and very expensive motor-car. 第3頁/共14頁 Mole was interested in visiting Badger, who live in the Wild Wood and escape from social activities. In a snowy winter day, after Rat fell into sleep, he walked to the Wild Wood alon

8、e. But soon he got in trouble, he was lost in the Wild Wood. Rat waked up and found Moles footprints to the Wild Wood, he armed himself and came to find Mole. He found Mole in a tree hole and they started to find the home of Badger together. Mole was hurt by a door-scraper and Rat found its a clue.

They were talking about Toad, he totally ignore the laws and caused a lot of traffic accidents. So they made a pl

10、an, help Toad stay away from motor-cars. On the next day, they found Badger also taken in two hedgehogs which got lost either. After few minutes, their friend Otter came to bring Mole and Rat to the river. They were eagerly hoped to come back their home again. “He must be wise, must keep to the plea

Suddenly, Mole felt the call of his old home. After he found his new life of the river, he had never come back to his small and

12、 dark house. Now it asked him to come back, he felt so exciting and happy. He asked Rat to stop, but Rat walked away, he didnt hear Mole. Mole was very sad and cry. After Rat notice the reason, they soon came back to Moles house. The familiar subjects in the house were so gracious for Mole. When the

13、y were enjoying their dinner, they heard the sound of talking outside the door. It was the field-mice, they go round carol-singing regularly at this time of the year. After their singing, Mole invited them come in and have something to eat. When he went to the bed, he thought a lot. “The upper world

14、 was all too strong, it called to him still, even down there, and he knew he must return to the larger stage. But it was good to think he had this to come back to, this place which was all his own, these things which were so glad to see him again and could always be counted upon for the same simple

15、welcome.”第6頁/共14頁 Its a bright morning of early summer, Badger came to Rats home. They began their plan of “help Toad stay away from motor-car”. They came to Toad Hall and caught Toad up. Badger tried to persuade Toad, but it didnt work. So they decided lock Toad in his room to make he become calm.

16、And each animal have to look after Toad rotationally. Once Rat was looking after Toad, Mole and Badger went out. Toad was very sly, he knew Rat was very kind and warm-hearted. He pretended that he was ill badly and ask Rat to fetch a doctor. After Rat came out, he escape from Toad Hall and proud of

17、himself. He saw a motor-car and uncontrollably drove the car recklessly. Then he was caught up by the police. He charged with steeling a valuable car, driving to the public danger and be rude to the police. He had to stay in the jail for 20 years.第7頁/共14頁 Otter was very anxious because his son Littl

18、e Portly was missing several days. He found everywhere, asked everyone, but no one know about it. So Mole and Rat decided to found Little Portly even it was night. They rowed the boat and searched along the river. The dawn was coming, Rat heard a beautiful tune and fascinated with it, but Mole didnt

19、 hear anything. Rat believe the music and the call must be for them, they row to the direction of the sound. Then Mole also heard it. “This is the place of my song-dream, the place the music played to me.” whispered the Rat, as if in a trance. “here, in the holy place, here if anywhere, surely we sh

20、all find Him!” Mole rose his eyes and saw the kind Friend and Helper, the baby otter was sleeping soundly between his hooves. When the first rays of sun shooting across the meadow, the scene disappear. For this the last best gift that the kindly demi-god is careful to bestow on those to whom he has

21、revealed himself in their helping: the gift forgetfulness.第8頁/共14頁 Toad was very regret in the jail. He met the daughter of the gaoler, a kind girl who loves animals. She thought it was so poor for Toad to stay in the jail. She came up with a method to help Toad escape from the jail. The girls aunt

22、was a washerwoman who taking the clothes and washing them every week. Toad can spend some money to have the cloth of the washerwoman and get out of the jail. Although Toad was unwilling to wear the cloth, he agree with the plan. He escaped from the jail successfully, but he forgot bring any money, s

23、o he cant take the train to his home. So he pretended he was a poor washerwoman who lost her money to persuade the engine-driver to give him a ride. But soon they found there was another train behind them and asked them stop. Toad was very afraid and told the truth to the engine-driver. The engine-d

Rat met another rat, the Sea Rat which was a traveler. He had been to a lot of places. He started his voyage in Constantinople and later we

His last voyage is in this country. “His eye lit with a brightness that seemed caught from some faraway sea-beacon, fill his glass with the red and glowing vintage of the South, and leaning towards the Water Rat, compelling his gaze and held him, body and soul, while he talk

Those eyes were of the changing foam-streaked grey-green of leaping Northern seas; in the glass shone a hot ruby that seemed the very heart of the South, beating for him who had courage to respond to its pulsation.” Rat was fascinated by his experience of adventure, he packed up something and de

He talked of the reddening apples around, of the br

But actually Toad had never wash a clothes and lost the soap for 15th time. The woman laughed at him, Toad became angry a

30、nd exposed his real status. The woman caught Toad and through him to the river. Toad swam to the shore and stole the horse of the woman. Then he sold the horse to a gipsy. He went on the road and saw a car. Coincidentally, it was the car which Toad stole before. But the people in the car didnt recognize him and put him on the car. Toad asked to drive and become crazy. He drove the car into pond and sang songs to praise himself. The police came to arrest him, h
