1、Module 1 My First Day at Senior HighMy name is Li Kang.I live in Shijiazhuang, a city not far from Beijing.It is the capital city of Hebei Province.Today is my first day at Senior High school,and I'mwriting down my thoughts about it.My new school is very good and I can see why.The teachers are v

2、ery enthusiastic and friendly and theclassrooms are amazing.Every room has a computer with a special screen,almost asbig as a cinema screen.The teachers write on the computer,and their words appearon the screen behind them.The screens also show photographs text and informationfrom websites.They'

3、re brilliant!The English class is really interesting.The teacher is a very enthusiastic woman called Ms Shen.We're using a new textbook and Ms Shen's method ofteaching is nothing like that of the teachers at myJunior High school. She thinks that reading comprehensionis important,but we speak

4、 a lot in lass,too. And we havefun.I don't think I will be bored in Ms Shen's class!Today we introduced ourselves to each other.We did thisin groups.Some students were embarrassed at first ,but everyone wasvery friendly and it was really nice.Ms Shen gave us instructions and then we worked b

5、y ourselves.Ms Shen wants to help us improve our spelling and handwriting.We do this in a fun way, with spelling games and other activities.I like her attitude very much, and the behaviour of the other students shows that they like her,too.There are sixty-five students in my class - more than my pre

6、vious class in Junior High.Forty-nine of them are girls.In other words, there are three times as many girls as boys.They say that girls are usually more hard-working than boys,but in this class,everyone is hard-working. For our homework tonight,we have to write a description of the street where we l

8、大家都覺得很快樂。 我想在沈老師的課上我是不會感到厭倦的。今天我們以分組的形式相互做了自我介紹。 一些學生起初很不好意思,不過大家都很友善,這樣做感覺真好沈老師給我們一些指導,然后我們就自己操練起來。沈老師想幫助我們提高我們的拼寫和書寫。我們用有趣的拼寫游戲加上其他的活動來做。我很喜歡她的態(tài)度,而且其他同學的言行舉止表明他們也喜歡她。 我班有 65 名學生 - 比我以前初中的班級人數(shù)多。其中 49 人是女生。換句話說,女生人數(shù)是男生的3 倍。據(jù)說女生通常比男生更勤奮,但在我們班,人人都很勤奮。至于我們今晚的作業(yè),我們得寫一篇描寫我們住的街道情況的文章。 我正盼著去做呢!Moudle 2 My

9、New TeachersThey say that first impressions are very important. My first impression of Mrs. Li was that she was nervous and shy. I think perhaps she was, as it was her first lesson with us. But now, after two weeks, the class really likes working with her. She's kind and patient, and she explain

10、s English grammar so clearly that even I can understand it! She avoids making you feel stupid! I've always hated making mistakes or pronouncing a word incorrectly when I speak English,but Mrs. Li just smiles, so that you don't feel completely stupid! I think maybe she goes a bit too slowly f

11、or the faster students, but for me it's wonderful! I feel I'm going to make progress with her.I'd guess that Mrs. Chen is almost sixty. She's verystrict we don't dare to say a word unless she asks usto. She's also very serious and doesn't smile much. Whenshe asks you to d

12、o something, you do it immediately!There are a few students in our class who keep coming toclass late but they're always on time for Mrs. Chen'slessons! Some of our class don't ike her, but most of usreally appreciate her because her teaching is so wellorganised and clear. And a few stud

13、ents even admit likingher! During scientific experiments, she explains exactlywhat is happening and as a result my work is improving.Physics will never be my favourite lesson, but I thinkthat I ll do well in the exam with Mrs Chen teaching me.Mr. Wu s only been teaching us for two weeks and he salre

14、ady very popular. I think this is because he reallyenjoys teaching Chinese literature he loves it, infact! He s got so much energy, this is one class you donot fall asleep in! He about 2 8,sI think, and israther good-looking. He talks loudly and fast, and waveshis hands about a lot when he gets exci

15、ted. He s reallyamusing and tells jokes when he thinks we re getting bored. Even things like compositions and summaries are fun with Mr. Wu. 21、y tried riding horses, but the horses didn't like the hot weather and sand.A hundred and fifty years ago, they brought some camels from Afghanistan.Ghan is short for Afghanistan.Camels were much better than horses for travelling a long distance.For many years, trained camels carried food and oth

22、ersupplies, and returned with wool and other products. TheAfghans and their camels did this until the 1920s.Then the government built a new railway line, so theydidn't need the camels any more.In 1925, they passed a law which allowed people to shootthe animals if they were a problem.In 1935, the
