1、-ic；ical 是從希臘和拉丁語借用來的形容詞的后綴名詞加后綴 ic 或-ical,就會變?yōu)樾稳菰X。在 構成形容詞的后綴中， ic 和 ical 是最常見的兩個。但究競哪些形容詞以 ic 結尾.哪些以 i“l(fā) 結尾，幾乎 沒有什么規(guī)律可循.那么以山與 il 結尾的形容詞到底有什么區(qū)別呢？（一）有時同一形容詞可以具有兩種不同的后綴，但在意義和用法上并無太大區(qū)別.可以互換使用。例如:（二）有些名詞只能轉化為以 ic 為后綴的形容詞.例如:dramatic 戲劇的， 富有戲劇性的 organic 器官的，有機的 systematic 系統(tǒng)的 prehistoric史前的linguistic 語言的

2、（三）有些名詞只能轉化為以 ical 為后綴的形容詞例如:grammatical 語法的 lexical 詞匯的 logical 邏輯的 musical 音樂的，悅耳的 clinical臨床的（四）一般來說.當一個名詞既可以接朮又可以接 ical 構成形容詞時，以 ic 為后綴的形容詞與同根名詞的 關系密切，其意義緊扣名詞字面的含義，表示該名詞的范圍；而以-ical 為后綴的形容詞與同根名詞的關系 較松弛，常表示名詞的屬性.例如：1. classic 與 classical-classic 表示：1） 最優(yōu)秀的，第一流的，（可作）典范的：a classic piece of work；2）特別

3、典型的，格要的：a classic case of pneumonia /a classic example of expressionism/the classicenemy；3） （藝術）質樸和諧的，相稱的；恪守傳統(tǒng)形式的：the classic style of BachM music/the classic Englishessayist；4） （文學歷史）著名的，歷史悠久的：a classic ground；5） 服裝）式樣簡樸的傳統(tǒng)式樣的：a classic suit classical 表示：1）古希臘（或拉?。┪膶W藝術（或文化）的（=classic） : classical s

10、mic actor 丑角 comical 滑稽可笑的”如：a comical expression 可笑的表情。5 economic 與 economical economic 意為“經(jīng)濟方面的.經(jīng)濟學的”如：economic base （policy, theory）經(jīng)濟基礎（政策、理論）。The country is in a good economic state這個國家經(jīng)濟狀況很好。 economical 意思為“節(jié)約的.節(jié)省的.不浪費金錢的”強調精明的管理，充分利用錢或物而無浪費.如：an economical person 一個節(jié)儉的人Its not a very economic

11、al method of heating.這不是一種非常節(jié)省的取暖方式。6. magic 與 magical兩者都有“巫術的，魔術的，有淺力的,不可思議的的意思。但 magic 常作定語，如：a magic trick 魔術把戲，a magic weapon 法寶。She has a magic touch with the baby, he never cries when she is holding him 她的手像有魔法似的.這個嬰兒被她抱著就不哭了。magical 既可作表語亦可作定語，如：a magical evening beneath the bright stars 一個星光

12、燦爛迷人的夜晚The result was magical結果真是不可思議。7. politic 與 politicalpolitic 表示：1） （人）精明的，有算計的:an astute and politic statesman；2） （行為）明智的，策略的，權宜之計的：a politic answer（choice）/ follow a politic course/make a politicretreat；3） 僅用于 body politic 表示國家，政治實體.例如：The politic man tried not to offend people.那個精明的人盡量不得罪人。
