9、e most important ones. ” (ungerer and schimid,119). however, as human societies develop to what they are today,they do share some similar cultural traditions, experiences andcustoms, which in consequence form the similar culturalconnotations in the metaphor concepts. for example, in chinese,the position of“上下” (“ up” and“down ) can be used as metaphors for social status.as for people with higher status, we call them“高高在上”，“人上人”，“上級
