1、新概念三Lesson15Lead-in目前流通的英國硬幣是自1985年開始發(fā)行,有1、2、5、10、20、50便士和1、2鎊。各種硬幣正面均鑄有英國女王伊麗莎白二世頭像,女王的右側(cè)鑄有“DGREGFD”,是拉丁文“蒙宗教信仰的維護(hù)者神圣女王的恩惠”的縮寫。背面是英國的傳統(tǒng)紋章圖案。英國硬幣的背面拼在一起湊成一個(gè)圖案盾。1 便士背面圖案是帶鐵鏈的城堡吊閘上飾以皇冠。它本來是亨利二世(1133-1189,創(chuàng)立金雀花王朝)國王勛章上的圖案,最早出現(xiàn)在亨利七世(1457-1509,創(chuàng)立都鐸王朝)銀幣的中央2 便士背面是威爾士王子勛章,三根鴕鳥羽毛插在冠狀頭飾上在查理一世(1600-1649,斯圖亞特王

2、朝/英國內(nèi)戰(zhàn))時(shí)期,這個(gè)團(tuán)就出現(xiàn)在銀幣背面了。5 便士背面是蘇格蘭徽章,帶兩片枝葉的薊花托著一頂皇冠。薊花是蘇格蘭的象征,所以不少蘇格蘭硬幣都會(huì)采用這個(gè)圖案10 便士背面是一只戴著皇冠的雄獅,這是英格蘭也可以說是大不列顛及北愛爾蘭聯(lián)個(gè)王國國徽的一部分。最早出現(xiàn)在喬治四世時(shí)期的先令和6便士上20 便士背面圖案是帶皇冠的玫瑰花飾。玫瑰花是英國的國花50 便士背面是坐在獅子上英格蘭守護(hù)神,也就是不列顛女神。她頭戴頭盔,左手握著橄欖枝,右手握著三叉戟,威武雄壯。這個(gè)圖案首次出現(xiàn)在1672年發(fā)行的半便士和四分之一便士同比上面,在七個(gè)君主統(tǒng)治時(shí)期也被印在各種硬幣上面。1 磅背面圖案多樣,不同年份發(fā)型的硬幣

On his way to the sweet shop, he dropped his fifty pence and it bounced along the pavement and then disappeared down a drain. George took off his jacket, rolled up his sleeves a

23、nd pushed his right arm through the drain cover. He could not find his fifty pence anywhere, and what is more, he could not get his arm out. A crowd of people gathered round him and a lady rubbed his arm with soap and butter, but George was firmly stuck. The fire brigade was called and two fire figh
