42、ms are held together in the molecules by chemical bonds. If only single bonds occur between the carbon atoms the molecule is said to be saturated. If one or more double bonds occur between the carbon atoms, the molecule is unsaturated. Unsaturated chemicals are preferred as petrochemical feedstocks

Petrochemical feedstock can be classified into three general groups: olefins, aromatics and a third group that includes synthetic gas and inorganics.
