1.Chooseathemeforyourscrapbookpages.Someexamples:“Schooldays,〞“Familytravel,〞“Memoriesofmygrandparents,〞“Baby’sfirstyear.〞

2.Selectphotosforeachpage.Twoorthreereallygoodphotosarebetterthantenso-sophotos.

3.Findotherpaperkeepsakestousewithyourphotos.Lookforoldnewspaperclippings,postcards,tickets,reportcards,lettersanythingmadeofpaper.Useyourimagination!

4.Designthepages.Putphotosandkeepsakestogetheroneachpageandmovethemarounduntilyoufindalayoutthatyoulike.

5.Glueyourphotosandkeepsakesintoplace.Thendecorateyourpageswithfeltpens,paint,andstickers.Useyourimagination!

6.Labelyourpages.Thisisthemostimportantstep!Remembertowritedownthe“5Ws〞ofyourphotos:Who,What,Where,When,andWhy.Thiswillmakeyourscrapbookmuchmoreinterestingandvaluableinthefuture.

MosthighschoolsintheUnitedStatespublishayearbook.Theyearbookcomesoutonceayear,usuallyinthespring.Itisarecordoftheschoolyeara“bookofmemories〞forthestudents.

Insideayearbookiseachstudent’sphoto.Theseniorsaregraduatingsoon,andtheirphotosappearfirst.Nextarethejuniors.Theyareoneyearbehindtheseniors.Nextcomethesophomores,orsecond-yearstudents.Thelastphotosarethefirst-yearstudents,thefreshmen.Theyearbookisnotonlyaboutstudents.Theteachershavephotos,too.

Theyearbookalsohasphotosanddescriptionsofsportsteams,academicsubjects,andextracurricularactivities.Theseareactivitiesstudentsdoafterschool,suchasthechessclubandSpanishclub.Thereisevenayearbookclub.Studentsinthisclubwrite,design,andtakephotosallyearfortheyearbook.Attheendoftheyear,thebookisprinted.

Intheyearbook,somestudentsreceivespecialtitles.Theseniorsvoteandchoosethe“classclown〞(afunnystudent),the“mostlikelytosucceed〞(astudenteveryonethinkswillbesuccessful),andthe“bestdressed〞(astudentwithagoodfashionsense).Therearealsootherawardsandcategories.Studentstypicallysigneachother’syearbooks.Thisisespeciallyimportantfortheseniors,becausetheyaregraduating.Studentswritenotestoeachother,suchas,“Wehadalotoffun,〞or“I’llneverforgetyou.〞Theyalsowriteaboutallthefunandfunnyexperiencestheysharedinschooltogether.
