Theintensityandcausesofthepressurepeoplesaidtheyfeltdidnotvarybygenderinmostcategories,thoughitwasadifferentstorywhenbrokendownbyageandeducation.Youngandwell-educatedfamilies,orthoseunder35andwithacollegedegreeorabove,saidtheyfeltthemostpressure.Si*ty-fourpercentoftherespondentsfromthatgroupsaidtheyfeltseriouspressure,whichtheyattributedtowork,adesireformoretrainingandcompetition.

CaoMing,a30-year-oldfinancialcontrollerwhoworksforapharmaceuticalcompany,saidhefeltconstantpressure.Ihavetosupportmyfamily,payamortgage,savemoneytohaveababyandimprovemyselfaswellifIwanttoadvanceinmycareer,Caosaid.Isufferinsomniaonceinawhile.Hesaidherelievedthepressurebytalkingwithhiswife,thoughsometimeshesaidhedidnothavetheenergytohaveaconversation.LikeCao,fewpeopleinShanghaiseekprofessionalhelptodealwiththeirstress.

Twopercentoftherespondentstothesurveysaidtheymetwiththerapistswhentheyfacedtoughsituationsatworkorintheirrelationships.Nineteenpercentsaidtheyhadnevertalkedwithatherapist,butmightgointhefuture.And79percentsaidtheywouldneverseekprofessionalhelptosolvetheirproblems.
