andothermoreexpensiveandscarematerialssuchasgallium

arsenidecanhaveevenhigherefficiencies,costsmustbe

reducedbyafactorofmorethan100tomakethempracticalfor

commercialuse.Besidesthefactthatthestartingcrystalline

siliconisexpensive,95percentofitiswastedanddoesnot

appearinthefinaldevice.Recently,therehavebeensome
