1.wouldrather寧可,寧愿

(1)wouldrather后接動(dòng)詞原形;表否定時(shí),后接not+動(dòng)詞原形I’llneverbedependentonanyoneagain.Iwouldratherstarve(thanbedependentonanyoneelse).我再也不依靠任何人了。我寧愿餓死(也不靠別人)。

(2)wouldrather后接that從句,從句用虛擬語(yǔ)氣,即用一般過(guò)去時(shí)表示現(xiàn)在或?qū)?lái)的動(dòng)作或狀態(tài),用過(guò)去完成時(shí)表示過(guò)去的動(dòng)作或狀態(tài)。如:I’drather(that)yousetouttodothetasknow.我寧愿你現(xiàn)在就著手這項(xiàng)工作。

(3)變體形式:wouldratherdo...thando...Iwouldratherdiethansurrendertotheenemy.我寧可死也不會(huì)向敵人屈服。第42頁(yè),共61頁(yè)。2.ratherthan(1)接形容詞/名詞,表示"與其……,不如……"Thispairofshoesiscomfortableratherthanpretty.這雙鞋與其說(shuō)是漂亮,不如說(shuō)是舒服。Johnisadoctorratherthanateacher.與其說(shuō)約翰是個(gè)老師,不如說(shuō)他是個(gè)醫(yī)生。
