2021/6/272WhileChina’sGDPhasrisenatanannualrateof8to12percentsincethenationembarkedonopeningandreforminthelate1970s,environmentaldamagehaseatenawaybetween8to13percentofthatGDPgrowtheveryyear.Thisisbecausevirtuallyallofthecountry’skeyindustriesmining,textiles,paper,ironandsteel,chemicals,petrochemicalsandbuildingmaterialsconsumelargeamountsofenergyandcreateagreatdealofpollution.Therefore,theChineseeconomyremainsdominatedbyresource-hungryandinefficientpolluters.Asaresult,one-quarteroftheChinesepeopledrinksubstandardwater,whileone-thirdofcountry’surbanitesbreatheseriouslypollutedair.Moreover,thecountryhasrecentlywitnessedaspateofenvironmentalaccidents.Chinacurrentlysuffersfromonewaterpollutionaccidenteveryotherday.Theresultingdamagetopublichealthisamajorcauseforconcern.Truly,injust30years,ChinahasmadeeconomicadvancesthattookWesterncountriesacenturytoaccomplish.ButitisequallytruethattheenvironmentalproblemssufferedbyWesterncountriesoverthose100yearshavevisiteduponChinawithinjustthreedecades.

2021/6/2716Thirdly,forthemedium,theycanreportthepositiveandnegativeexamplesaboutthepollutionasmuchaspossible.Also,TVandradiocanbroadcastsomepublicserviceadvertisementstoimprovethecitizens’awarenessofenvironmentalprotection.2021/6/2717Atlast,forthegovernment,theyshouldpunishtheindividualandfactorythatpollutetheenvironmentharshlyandrewardthosewhocontributetotheenvironmentalprotection.Also,thegovernmentcanopenatip-offhotlineandtheyshouldalsoencouragecitizenstosaymore.What’smore,governmentshouldimprovethesystemofpublictransportationinordertoreducetheuseofprivatecars.2021/6/2718OurfeelingafterdoingtheprojectAlthoughthelawoftheenvironmentalprotectionhasbeenputontheagenda,theactions,whicharedamagingtheeffortsofenvironmentalprotectioninordertogainpersonalbenefits,arestillexistinginoursociety.Thecarsstillrunninginthestreetandtherearemoreandmoreprivatecarsappearinginthecities.Andthech
