Madagascar,toidentifyanyanimalsthatmighthaveclaimedtheroleofbaobab-seedspread.Theresearchersalso

setupcameratrapsaroundseed-containingfruitslyingontheground,andsearchedanyfaeces(糞便)thatthey

encounteredalongthewayforthepresenceofseeds.

TheyreportinthejournalBiotropicathatanativerodent(嚙齒動(dòng)物)knownasthewesternbunch-tailedrat

wascaughtoncamerahandlingwholefruitsonfouroccasions.Althoughtherewasnofootageoftheratbreaking

thefruitsopen,theteamdidchanceupon13fruitsthathadbeenchewedintoandhadtheirseedsremoved.Though

thebitemarkswerenotclearenoughtoidentifyaninitiator,thiswasclearevidencethataseed-distributinganimal
