theNormanssailedacrossthechannelfromnorthwesternFranceand

conqueredEngland.AftertheNormanConquest,noenemyeveragain

invadedandconqueredthesoutheasternpartofBritain,drivingthe

northernmountainareas.Theybecamethenewmasteroftheland,which

theynamedEngland,meaning‘thelandoftheAngles'.

weredifferentgroupsofancientpeoplewhooriginallylivedinthe

uppervalleysoftheDanubeRiver.Later,theyspreadtoFrance,Spain,

PortugalandNorthernItaly.About700BC,theycametoBritainand

settleddown.TheyweretheancestorsoftheScots,WelshandIrish.5.NorthernIrelandwasseparatedfromtherestofIrelandandbecamepart
