so...that...中的so是副詞,常用來(lái)修飾形容詞或副詞,“如此……以致
于……
主語(yǔ)+謂語(yǔ)+so+adj./adv.+that從句。
e.g.TheboyransofastthatIcouldn'tcatchhim.
so+adj.+a(n)+單數(shù)名詞+that從句。
e.g.Itwassofineadayyesterdaythatweallwentoutforapicnic.

區(qū)別:
1)sothat引導(dǎo)目的狀語(yǔ)從句時(shí),表示“以便;為了",從句中常使用can
/could/may/might/will/would/should等情態(tài)動(dòng)詞或助動(dòng)詞;引導(dǎo)結(jié)果狀
語(yǔ)從句時(shí),從句中一般不用can和may等詞。
2)sothat引導(dǎo)目的狀語(yǔ)從句前不用逗號(hào),sothat引導(dǎo)的結(jié)果狀語(yǔ)從句
與主句之間常有逗號(hào)相隔開(kāi),“因此;所以"。

這是由when引導(dǎo)的定語(yǔ)從句。修飾前面的名詞timeso

4.hewroteabookcalledBetweenaRockandaHardPlace.
BetweenaRockandaHardPlace.此句為習(xí)語(yǔ)。表在艱難或危險(xiǎn)處境下
“從兩難中選擇”。
