CONFUSED,DEAR CONFUSED: Your reaction to dinner invitations is quite natural,and I have received many letters on this topic from other visitors.Therefore,I have made a list of some of the specific rules to follow: If the dinner is informal,ask if you can bring something,such as something

6、to drink or dessert. Arrive five to ten minutes late,but never early.Your host or hostess may still be getting ready.,Take off your hat and coat as soon as you enter someones home. Feel free to politely refuse food that you dont want.You can say,”No,thanks.I dont care for any.” Put your napkin on yo

7、ur lap before you begin to eat. If there are a number of utensils,those farthest from the plate are supposed to be used first.The last utensils to be used will be on the inside. If youd like a second helping of something,you should go ahead and accept the first time it is offered.Your host or hostes

These are some of the basic guidelines ,and,of course,they may vary with the situation.When in doubt,it is best to look at what the other people at the table
