To 2004, the World Un iversity Games havebee n held 22 sessi ons.In 1959 the first World Un

3、iversity Games, Chi na has p artici pated in some track and field comp etiti on. From 1961un til the sec ond sessi on of the eighth, the Chin ese were not sent a delegatio n to atte nd. In 1975, China was accepted as a full member of the Intern ati onal Un iversity Sp orts Federati on. Ninth in 1977

15、ch dot is deemed a logoelement, the meaning of which is open to different interpretations. The dot can be enlarged,reduced, concentrated or evolved into myriads of things or patterns, therefore carryinga rich variety of meanings. It tries to convey the message that the Universiade is acarnival gathe

16、ring for university students from around the world. As innovation is thehallmark of the city of Shenzhen, the Executive Office of the Organizing Committee forShenzhen Summer Universiade is committed to presenting a brand-new emblem distinguishingthe Universiade from other international sports meetin

17、gs. While communicating powerfulmessages about the city, the Universiade, the youth and the life, the emblem embracesdiversity and innovation and is open to different interpretations.is rich in meanings. It may stand for “university ” , “ you” , “ union ”“ universe ” or other words, or be taken as a

18、 graphical mark representing bays in theUcity, Dapeng Bay for example, suggesting a happy reunion of college studentsof different races and colors from the five continents. The semicircular mark implies simultaneouslyopenness and inclusiveness. U may be understood in six different ways, including a

19、happy U (suggestingbeautiful colors, liveliness, energy, and the theme of happy reunion of the youth from differentparts of the world), an open U ( consisting of dots in five different colors, the simple yet powerfulmark is rich in meanings), an inclusive U ( the colored dots evolve into smiling fac

20、es, balloons,garlands and drops of moisture); a youthful U (evolving into different sports-related images, tobe used for the different sports of the Universiade), a cosmopolitan U ( the variedly colored andsized dots indicate a gathering of people of different races and colors), and a futuristic U (

21、aforward-looking design projecting the Shenzhen edition of the Universiade in an innovative way).Unlike previous pictographic designs for emblems, the emblem for Shenzhen SummerUniversiade features dots which, when partitioned, separated or combined into different forms, canstill fully represent and

22、 identify the image to be conveyed. Its openness to a wide range ofinterpretations implies the host city s vitality and inclusiveness. The final decisio

29、n is made based on two proposals, one by He Zhi(we start here) and the other by Ta n Xiaohui (let s start here) out of over 16,000proposals received since Oct. 18, 2007, with special contribution given by famoustheater director Lai Shengchuan. Experts believe that“ Start Here ” can be appliedextensi

31、的意思，有時間、空間兩個概念。5 、核心圖形( The core graphics )The core graphics of Shenzhen Summer Universiade are designed by the team of Central Academyof Fine Arts led by Prof Hang Hai. As part of the basic visual elements of the Universiade, the coregraphics serve to bond together the emblem, the slogan, the masco

32、t and sports pictograms of theUniversiade, playing an important role in creating the unique look and image of Shenzhen SummerUniversiade and in upholding the ideals of the Universiade and the city of Shenzhen. They can beapplied to clothing, licensed products and urban landscape. Following the Unive
