1、Travelling aroundPeriod 1 Opening page&Listening and Speaking & PronunciationGood morning,everyone.Today, it is my great honour to be here to present my lesson plan. The lesson I am going to present is from Book 1 Unit 2 Travelling Around.Now, I would like to share my plan in the following five aspe

2、cts, namely, the analysis of teaching material and learners, the statement of the learning objectives, the description of the teaching procedures, the exposition of homework and the blackboard design and the reflection on the plan.1. AnalysisNow, lets first take a look at the teaching material learn

3、ers. The reading passage is from the Book 1 Unit 2 (period 1). For the whole unit, the overall structure of each lesson is as follows. This will help students grasp the role of the first lesson in the whole unit and learn this lesson better.Big ideaThere are altogether two parts talking about the to

4、pic “Travel”. In the first part, we can learn that travel is not only a part of experience, but also a part of education. In the second part, we have two dialogues about Paul and Meilin. They are talkingabout their travel plans.In brief, this is a short passage with a clear structure, so it is easy

5、for my students to understand. Besides, the language used in this passage is practical and vivid, for example, “Im travelling around Europe.” “Im applying for my visa.” “My parents are taking me to.” It is a good example for the students to appreciate. So hopefully the language will be put into thei

6、r speaking.For the topic, students are interested in travelling. They have a basic knowledge of general future tense. But they are still poor in speaking and can not find out the key words well. So, I will encourage them to pay more attention to the key words and to express themselves confidently.To

7、 sum up, the listening will serve as input, offering the students the contents and languages to speak out their travel plans. The speaking task offers a well- structured outline, so they are perfectly combined.2. StatementBased on the above analysis, I have set the following learning objectives.Firs

8、t, students will practice listening skills including listening for main idea and details, focusing on keywords, such as the place, the time, the person and so on.Second, they will learn to use the present ongoing tense to express future travel plans.Third, students can know some preparations before

9、the trip and try to share their own travel plans with others.During the learning process, the students can hopefully develop a sense of pride of the culture and civilization of our country.Teaching Important points:To help students master the skills of acquiring information by key words.Students can

10、 understand the language structure of the present tense to indicate future plans.Students can master the common expressions of preparation before the trip.Teaching Difficult point:Students enable to make a conversation by choosing their favorite scenic spots and expressing the reasons.Based on the a

11、bove analysis, in terms of teaching methods, I mainly adopt Communicative Teaching methods, Task-based language teaching and Deep Learning.Teachers should practice the fundamental task of establishing moral integrity in cultivation and pursue education for all-round development, so the traditional l

12、istening class can be upgraded.PWP:Before the listening, teachers can get students well prepared for the listening and speaking.While they are listening, different kinds of tasks should be designed .After listening, they will try to speak out what they have learned and make their own travel plans.Th

13、e concept of deep learning will run through the entire teaching process. After the class, personalized homework will be sent to students.3. DescriptionNext, lets move to the teaching procedures where I will explain in detail how I will provide opportunities and guidance and offer scaffolds and how m

14、y students will learn, appreciate, practice and apply so that all the learning objectives can be carried out.In this lesson, I have designed five steps. The first step is to activate the schema, which will take 3 minutes. I will ask the students what they have learned in the opening page. Besides, t

15、he schema about the values of travel can be activated. After that, a wonderful video about Xian will be shown for my students. Then I will ask the students the reasons why they like travelling. And the possible answers will be written on the blackboard.After the students are warmed up, I will get th

16、e students prepared for the listening. The second step is to scaffold for the topic. First I will present some pictures about travel, and ask the students what we need to prepare for the trip. Then I will show the answers. After that, a virtual conversation will be presented between “I” and “Paul”.

17、This activity will help the students review the preparations before a trip.Meanwhile, I will write down them on the blackboard. Then I will ask students the destinations they want to travel and preparations for the trip. In this way, they will be totally warmed up and more interested in the topic, t

18、ravel.The third step is to ask students to listen to two dialogues about Meilin and Pual. First we will learn about Meilins travel plan. At the same time, they should pay more attention to the key words, such as the place, the time and the person. When the students know some information about Meilin

19、s travel plan, they will be interested in Pauls plan. So its time to listen to the second part of the conversation. In this way, they can get some important sentences to answer the questions.But now students still have some detailed information lost, so they will listen to the whole conversation aga

20、in and fill in the table. In this way, they can get some detailed information, then I will present the listening passage to the students, but some similar expressions are lost.So, they will listen the whole passage one more time to find out the relevant information. This task is not hard to do, beca

21、use,as we have analyzed, the words are easy and the structure is clear. Then with what the students have found, I will ask them to study all the blanks and learn how the expressions are used to express future plans.Now comes the fourth step, which aims to offer scaffolds for speaking, I will present

22、 an outline with some relevant expressions about travel as well as the key sentences of making a travel plan. The students are going to discuss how to organize all the details in a logical way. Special attention will be paid to the key expressions such as book a hotel, buy a guidebook, Im planning t

23、o and so on. All the steps for6input will take 25 minutes.With all the preparations done, student will feel confident and ready to share their own ideas in English. I have enough reasons to believe that they will speak out well structured sentences in vivid words. After that I will invite some of th

24、em to the front desk to share their own ideas. We will also evaluate together in terms of the language used and the content which should be well linked.4. ExpositionAfter the class, the students are going to revise and polish their draft according to what has been done in the class, they will introduce their own travel plans to their families. This is the homework for this lesson. Now lets quickly review what has been written on the blackboard. All the learning objectives can be found here, there are the words and expression
