TheUnit2ColoursPartBLet’sTalklessonplanwillbetaughtforGrade3studentsinthePeople’sEducationPress(PEP)Englishcurriculum.TheobjectiveofthelessonplanistohelpstudentslearnvocabularywordsforcoloursinEnglish,practiceproperpronunciation,anddevelopspeakingabilities.Thelessonwillbeconductedfortwohoursinaclassroomsetting.Studentswillreceiveinstructionfromateacherandwillalsobeengagedinindividualandgroupworkexercises.

Warm-up(10min)
TheteacherwillbeginthelessonbyshowingthecolouredflashcardsandaskingstudentstoidentifythembypointingthecoloursandnamingtheminChinese.TheteacherwillthenintroducetheEnglishnameforeachcolourandaskstudentstorepeatafterhim/her.
LearningActivity1(30min)
TheteacherwillplayavideoclipandaudiorecordingsofthecoloursinEnglishpronunciationforstudentstorepeatthenamesofthecolours.TheteacherwillchoosefivecoloursfromtheflashcardsandaskstudentstoidentifythembycoloursandspeaktheEnglishnamesoutloud.
LearningActivity2(50min)
Inthisactivity,studentswillworkinpairstocreateasimplesentenceusingacolouroftheirchoice.EachpairwillhaveawhitepapersheetandwillwritethecolournameinthemiddleofthepaperinEnglish.Then,theywillcreateasimplesentenceusingthatcolourinEnglish.Theteacherwillencouragethestudentstousewordstheyhavelearnedinpreviouslessonsandtobecreativewiththeirsentences.
LearningActivity3(30min)
Theteacherwilldividetheclassintogroupsandgiveeachgroupasetofcolouredflashcards.Theteacherwillprovideaninstructionforeachgrouptofindtheitemsintheclassroomthatareofthesamecolouroftheflashcards.Aftercollectingandverifyingtheitems,groupswillbeaskedtospeakouttheEnglishnameofthecolourandgivethesentencetheyhavecreated.Theteacherwillevaluatethegroups’pronunciationandgivefeedback.

Intheclosingactivity,theteacherwillaskstudentssomequestionsinEnglishaboutthecolourstheyhavelearnedtoday.Theteacherwillthensummarizethelessonandgivetheclasssomefeedbackandappreciationfortheirparticipation.
